Chilled, friendly in a great...

Liked: Lovely Friendly chilled atmosphere, Great staff and lovely food. The Lawn area was just perfect with plenty of room.
Disliked: If there was one thing it was the shower, could be upgraded but definitely didn’t sway my opinion of this wonderful place.

Overnight stay

Liked: Only stayed overnight but found all the staff very nice chatty ,friendly & helpful .

Wonderful location; great Victorian atmosphere;...

Liked: Our room was absolutely wonderful, with a lovely view over the garden. Our 7 year old grandson and my son loved the indoor swimming pool and made friends with two other boys. That made the stay memorable for my grandson.We loved the garden and the outdoor swimming pool, although we didn't try it. We are too old.
Disliked: a bug was crawling around on the floor near our bed which I tried to squash, I found the restaurant charges for breakfast and for dinner higher than I expected.

Liked: The staff were brilliant, really friendly and helpful. The grounds are lovely. There is an indoor and (heated) outdoor pool. There's tennis, croquet and mini-golf (don't expect Augusta quality putting surfaces but still good fun). The food in the restaurant was very good with a varied menu.
Disliked: My shower didn't work. It was an old looking electric heater and pump unit and would only produce cold water so I assume the heater element wasn't working. When I was checking out another guest was complaining about the same problem. The place should really be replumbed to have showers coming from the main hot and cold water pipes. Ditch the half bath you have to step in to and put in a decent shower enclosure instead.A smaller annoyance was not having power sockets next to the bed. Everyone these days wants to charge their phone while they sleep and use them as an alarm clock so having my phone across the room seems very out of date.

Lovely location

Liked: Comfortable bed & pillows and nice garden. We came 20 years ago for the first time and were having a nostalgia visit.
Disliked: Bathrooms are dated. Stained skylight. Dated interior… Other rude older guests who should know better by their age.

Exceptional
