Gracious service. Deafening noise!
Liked: Gracious service. But.... Where to start with the Park Plaza Winter Park? The front desk personnel couldn?t have been nicer or more responsive. The interior was beautifully appointed with dark wood. It was the perfect location for being in the middle of the lovely downtown area. That?s about where the famous Park Plaza name plate ends. As far as the rest? well? there were the tiny rooms, the 100 year old elevator with the door that opens into an open shaft, the toilet that sounded like a gushing waterfall (we were convinced you could successfully flush an entire human body down it). We had a room with a balcony that faced the park. That (did I mention tiny?) room was graced with the regularly scheduled sound of the commuter rail which passed by a half block away (but sounded like it passed through the lobby downstairs), along with the clanging of the RR crossing bell. Then there was the street-sweeper that passed downstairs at 5:00 a.m., the sirens and loud trucks that passed by because it?s on THE main intersection of town. It was lovely! We might also mention the couple that walked in on us at midnight as they were checking in. Or the lovely breakfast served by the kind elderly gentlemen who thoughtfully was wearing a face shield, but no mask which meant his breath was directed directly onto our breakfast. We ordered one tea and one coffee along with our (tasty) croissants. We got a single cup of coffee, and a green tea bag. Who drinks green tea in the morning? We were told if we needed anything, to call the front desk, so we went to request MORE coffee and a black tea bag. Except that the phone system was down, so off we trudged to the front desk (carefully checking the elevator shaft to avoid a nasty fall). There we were able to score more coffee and Chamomile tea! Did I mention how gracious and kind everyone was? Not sure it was worth the $165 for the night, but it was definitely a source of laughs for at least a couple of days.
Disliked: Even with the provided ear plugs? Deafening noise! And why would they assigm two adjoining rooms that dont lock to different parties when th ehotel is less than 40% capacity?? A couple checked in at 12:30 AM and were led loudly to their room next to ours. My husband we expect, then proceeded to open the door to our suite while we were sleeping. Fortunately I was awake in spoke out. He was apologetic. I count this a fault on the hotel the door does not lock sufficiently between these two rooms. Why have them both occupied when the hotel is not at maximum capacity?Other than that, as described above, the environment is very loud, the walls are very thin. All in all this makes for a very loud stay. Of course, you are in the middle of downtown Winter Park with all those amenities. For the price, one would think the institution would have been better retrofitted to handle the noise.

Very good
Liked: We love the Continental breakfast served on the balcony. Also the staff could not have been more accommodating.
Disliked: Needed a hook in the bathroom for robes.
