Famed bars, an awe-inspiring crystal chandelier restaurant, a fitness area and a glass dome indoor pool are featured at this landmark Financial District Palace. San Francisco's vibrant Union Square is 5 minutes' walk from Palace Hotel. Leather tufted headboards, 11-foot ceilings, bedside lighting, high thread count linens and pillow-top bedding set the stage for a luxurious night's sleep in each room at the Palace Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, San Francisco. High-end luggage inspired desk, tables and the bathroom vanity transport guests to the Palace origins with modern finishes. Guests can enjoy innovative cocktails, craft beers, bold wines and shareable artisan cuisine at the Pied Piper, home of the Maxfield Parrish mural The Pied Piper of Hamelin, which was commissioned as gift to San Francisco to honor the hotel's reopening in 1909. Boasting sexy, contemporary décor, the Pied Piper is a San Francisco legend and the perfect place for an intimate individual dining experience or a social celebration. Under a glass dome with city views, an indoor pool surrounded by chaise lounges and spas is featured. Tucked away on a high floor, this key card access oasis also features spa services and a 24-hour fitness center that overlooks the pool area through floor to ceiling windows. Liked: Great location and everyone…except one…of the staff was fabulous

Great but could have been...

Liked: Pool, bar, friendly staff, beautiful facilities
Disliked: I waited for over 45 minutes to try to get breakfast three consecutive days before giving up each time. They did not look that busy but long lines each morning discouraged me from waiting. They need to hire more restaurant staff. Major disappointment of never being able to eat in that gorgeous room!

Great, but...

Liked: Everything except one important mistake.
Disliked: This was a birthday present, and I (the guests' mother/MIL) specifically asked and received assurance from the hotel staff that ALL incidental charges would be placed on my credit card, which I registered in advance with the hotel. Unfortunately, that agreement was not honored by the staff. I am VERY unhappy. I have had to ask my son to get a reimbursement from me, which is like leaving the price tag on the gift. Tacky, but necessary.

overrated hotel, I won't stay...

Liked: The lobby looks nice, but I didn't see that it's possible to order food or drinks there.
Disliked: The hotel's name said it was "luxury," but it really wasn't. Instead of being fancy, the furniture looked old and worn out, there are spots on the wall, the paint was faded, there was dust everywhere and even the elevators were not clean. The swimming pool was gross, with hair and plastic floating in it.Usually, nice hotels smell good and the staff treats you special, but this hotel was nothing like that. I stayed for nine days, and no one from the hotel even talked to me. In fancy hotels, they usually ask if everything is okay and make sure you're having a good time.
