Historic Charm and Modern Comfort Just Outside Peterborough

Nestled in the conservation village of Orton Longueville, the Orton Hall Hotel & Spa blends 17th-century grandeur with modern-day comfort. Set in 20 acres of beautiful parkland, this former home of the Marquesses of Huntly offers an elegant escape just 2.5 miles from central Peterborough and the A1. From romantic four-poster beds to flat-screen TVs and cozy tea/coffee stations, rooms here are designed to help you unwind in style.

Why Concert-goers love it

Concert fans appreciate the peaceful post-show atmosphere—far enough from the city buzz to relax, but close enough for a quick ride to venues in Peterborough. With check-in from 14:00 and check-out at 11:00, there's enough flexibility to suit most event schedules. If you're driving, easy access to the A1 makes getting to late-night shows a breeze, and the countryside setting means minimal noise after hours.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a classy base before a big gig
  • Solo travelers chasing a dream concert with a side of heritage
  • Couples planning a romantic concert weekend getaway

  • Budget-conscious music lovers seeking value in a premium setting

Food and Drink Options

Whether you’re looking for a refined dinner or a late-night bite, Orton Hall delivers. The award-winning Huntly Restaurant offers intimate dining with an elegant touch, while The Ramblewood Inn serves up hearty pub fare and real ales into the evening. While there’s no official 24/7 room service, the on-site options and nearby eateries mean you’re never far from a good meal. Breakfast is available, ideal for those who stayed out late.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, the Ramblewood Inn has a lively pub vibe with a solid drinks selection. You’re just a short drive from central Peterborough’s bars and lounges, making it easy to extend your night out after a concert or wind down with a quiet pint.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the beautiful parkland setting, historic character, and friendly staff. Many note the relaxing atmosphere and charming rooms, especially those with four-poster beds. The proximity to Peterborough and major roads makes it a convenient yet tranquil choice for music fans.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviewers mention the décor in certain rooms feels a little dated, and the Wi-Fi signal can be spotty in parts of the building. However, most agree that the setting and service more than make up for it.

The Bottom Line

If you’re heading to a concert in Peterborough and want a peaceful, elegant stay with character, Orton Hall Hotel & Spa hits all the right notes.

Very good

Liked: Lovely properly. Spacious and lots of wonderful history. Room and bed were comfortable and clean. Could do with some updating but otherwise fantastic. Staff all friendly and helpful. Free parking and breakfast added for £17.50 which was a great buffet.

Pleasant stay but not as...

Liked: Staff were pleasant and helpful. Grounds are pleasant. Access to spa was included in stay.
Disliked: Hotel and spa decoration is looking a little "tired" (such as stains on carpets, paintwork needing refreshing, etc). We went for fine dining for our evening meal but were the only guests in the restaurant between 7:00pm and 8:00pm which was odd. Evening meal was okay - starters were good but mains were "ordinary". Treatment rooms in Spa were all upstairs which rules out bringing an elderly relative (which we had planned).

Very good

Liked: The hotel.owner was friendly, cheerful. Reception staff were lovely, facilities were good and the value for money of the room was great.
Disliked: Cleanliness of the pool area was not great, lots of plastic cups left around and no staff around. Breakfast was massively overpriced at £10 per head and £17.50 per head for a fry upSome.of the staff were really grumpy dealing with guests.

Disliked: Corridors and room smelt - air freshener apparently, more like cigarette in my opinion.Had to ask to move room as been allocated room amongst wedding party guests - noisy and larry!New room was found thankfully.

Travelling in the glorious days...

Liked: Beautiful old building set in mature gardens with ancient trees. A real piece of countryside right inside the city. The restaurant was really good and they helped us plan a surprise event. The spa facility looked good.
Disliked: It was not as clean as I expected. A little “down at heel”. But that being said the bathroom was immaculate and the towels and linen beautiful and new.

Exceptional

Liked: Orton Hall Hotel and Spa was a lovel ending to our two-week English trip. The building is impressive. Our room was spacious and clean (apart from a few tiny stains on the bedsheet).Breakfast was wondeful. The staff were helpful. Free parking is a great bonus. And so was the nice spa area. The only downside is that the robes are not included in the stay.
