O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat

The most relaxing stay in...

Liked: Love the friendly, helpful staff. Was so relaxing to stay here. To sit on the balcony staring at the view and friendly colourful birds. Perfect place to base yourself if doing hikes. Trailheads opposite the retreat. And at the end of the day treat yourself to their port in the upstairs bar/ dining room. The most comfortable bed. I didn't realise they have weekly activity sheets, so it suits non-hikers too. Definitely staying again but longer.
Disliked: Couldn't fault a thing, apart from the persistent rain! I guess that's why it's called a rainforest.

Family get-together

Liked: The location is hard to beat. Walks exceeded the best of my memories from many trips to Green Mountains. Good to have a villa to gather in comfort after a big day out.
Disliked: Bbq wasn't working properly. Reception staff were a bit offhand when I mentioned this as if it were a trivial complaint, but we had planned for bbqs both nights, so to have to shift to the thin-based frying pan was a bit disappointing. Family from the main guest house joined us both nights, so 7 for dinner meant cooking had to be done in shifts.

Liked: Location
Disliked: We came home after 1 night as the bed was very soft & uncomfortable. Lots of lumps everywhere so had very bad sleep. The Mattress looked like 20yrs old & the carpets looked dirty. We thought our room was clean but very old fashioned. We originally booked 2 nights but the bed was a Disaster! Also very expensive in the bar with limited seating for everyone you cater for. We feel very let down & would like 1 nights accomodation refunded. We are awaiting a response regarding an e mail we have sent. I can send you photos of our mattress that we slept on for the night if needed.

A nice visit

Liked: Staff were friendly, location is amazing of course and the food was really delicious. I enjoyed the buffet breakfast and also a yummy pizza for dinner. Bed was comfy.
Disliked: The room had no sound proofing. I could hear everything next door even down to the tiny sounds like a can of soft drink being opened and a phone vibrating on silent. The balcony door also rattled in the wind. I didn’t get much sleep and there was no chance for a sleep in due to the cleaners wheeling around super early.

Overpriced and poor value for...

Liked: Not much
Disliked: A bit run down and tired. Needs a paint and lighting is poor. Food was not properly heated and undercooked . Coffee was not hot and hot plates were cold. Too many charge extras. Would not return.

Not worth what I paid

Disliked: Arrived at 4pm, couldn’t get into room as room key wouldn’t work. Took several goes then maintenance came out I finally had access to room at 4:45pm.7:15pm Toilet wouldn’t flush, just kept running water.Maintenance turned up at 8:20pm.The shower leaked all over the tiny bathroom floor causing a trip hazard

Liked: We ate at the villa most times because we were 8 people , but went to the cafe for brekky the one day - it was excellent!
Disliked: The BBQ on both villas did not work but we just cooked inside instead.

Liked: Staff were fantastic, accommodation clean and compact. Lots to do and see.
