The Spotlight on Omni San Diego Hotel at the Ballpark

Luxury Comfort Right Next to the Stage

Modern and upscale, the Omni San Diego Hotel offers a polished downtown getaway just a 5-minute walk from PETCO Park and under 10 minutes to the San Diego Convention Center. Guests enjoy sweeping views of the harbor, ballpark, or skyline, along with top-notch amenities like a rooftop pool, full-service spa, and multiple dining options—all set in a lively yet relaxed downtown vibe.

Why Concert-goers love it

You can’t beat the location—walking distance to key venues means no late-night rideshare headaches. The hotel’s serene rooms and luxury bedding make it a favorite for those needing a quiet wind-down after the show. With 24-hour room service and friendly staff, late returns are no problem. Plus, public transit and rideshares are easy to find right outside.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to stay near the action
  • Solo travelers checking artists off their bucket list
  • Couples making a weekend of music and downtown dining
  • Fans seeking a peaceful, upscale place to recharge
  • Budget-conscious fans who want luxury perks at fair rates

Food and Drink Options

Ace Porter brings a classy, cocktail-forward vibe starting at 4pm, ideal for pre-show drinks or a nightcap. Tortuga Pool Bar keeps things casual with poolside bites and drinks until 6pm. While there’s no late-night restaurant on-site past 6pm, 24/7 in-room dining has you covered. You’ll also find several great eateries and bars within walking distance. Breakfast is available the next morning—perfect after a late night out.

Nightlife Options

The hotel’s downtown location means you’re steps from San Diego’s nightlife—from trendy rooftop bars to casual lounges. While there's no live music on-site, Ace Porter offers a social place to start or end your night. PETCO Park’s event schedule adds to the buzz, and the nearby Gaslamp Quarter has endless options for post-concert fun.

What People Say

Guests rave about the location and comfort. Many note how easy it is to walk to shows and love the views from their rooms. The pool and spa often get shoutouts for providing a relaxing recovery space. Staff are frequently praised for being friendly and helpful, especially during busy event weekends.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that food options after 6pm are limited outside of room service. Also, if there’s a game or event at PETCO Park, the area can get a bit crowded—but that’s also part of the fun if you're in town for a show.

The Bottom Line

With unbeatable proximity to venues, plush rooms, and a high-end but welcoming vibe, Omni San Diego Hotel hits all the right notes for concert-goers in the heart of the city.

Lovely Hotel - Perfect for...

Liked: The Omni was really lovely overall! The front desk staff were very friendly, and in the lobby staff was always greeting guests and opening doors for us. It smells so good when you walk in! And the lobby is lovely, airy, bright and full of amazing plants. The whole hotel feels very secure and I appreciate that they have signage about no guests/noise after a certain time, maybe 9 or 10 pm? Definitely not a party hotel. The lovely gal at the front desk sent up chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne when we checked in as we were there to celebrate our birthdays and wedding anniversary. It was such a nice way to start our special trip! The room was nice overall and very comfortable. The views from our room looked out at the pool and then the convention center and water beyond. We enjoyed that there are multiple restaurants/bars in the hotel and went to both the cafe downstairs and the tiki bar at the pool. The pool and hot tub were nice and it didn't seem to get overly crowded. My husband is a huge baseball fan and we LOVED all of the baseball memorabilia throughout the hotel. It is a really nice touch and a nice nod to the location. We went to a Padres game and being able to enter and exit the stadium through the skybridge was amazing!!! I felt like royalty! I would highly recommend staying here if you plan to go to a Padres game (or even if you don't)! As much as part of me wants to check out some of the other cool hotels, I think we will probably stay here again when we visit! Also sign up for the Select Guest rewards if you do stay here - you get some nice perks and discounts!
Disliked: Only complaint about the hotel itself is that I found it to not be very noise-proof. In our room I felt like I could hear any people in nearby rooms and in the hallway very easily. It woke me up a few times in the morning, but it wasn't a huge issue. I would just recommend you bring or ask for earplugs (the front desk can provide them) and this may not be the place for you if you need total silence. The hotel is pricey, but it is comparable to other high end hotels near by. I did feel that the food and drink at the places inside the hotel was on the pricey side for nothing overly spectacular. The drinks at the tiki bar were very expensive and not all that great (though they were super cute) and it took a long time to get someone to take our order even though it was empty. But overall these are small things and I would still recommend this hotel and stay there again!

Good but not worth it

Liked: Location
Disliked: They take security deposits when in fact they have nothing provided in the room. Worst part they give themselves the right to charge your card multiple time (security deposote) as they see fit and without getting back to you

Superb

Liked: All of the staff were exceptional. The food was excellent as well at the restaurant and the pool bar. The room was very clean and stocked with most of the things we needed. The staff were quick to restock when we needed it.
Disliked: I wish there was access to more clean water on our floor for coffee. We were given two water bottles. Also, I did not know that there was an area for breakfast until I was leaving. I could not see it coming around the corner from the elevator. It would have been nice to be given a run down of where things are at check-in.

Great location, nasty wakeup call.

Liked: Location - fantastic proximity to the ballpark.
Disliked: Hoping to sleep in after a late night. Woken at 7:00 am Sunday morning by extremely loud banging noises overhead. We were on the 21st floor (top floor) so assumed it must have been pipes in the ceiling.
