Awful Substandard Accomodation with Extremely...

Liked: Nothing. My time away was ruined due to how bad this accommodation was and I checked out a day early.
Disliked: This is undoubtedly the worst B&B I've ever stayed in. My rooom had dirty bed linen, marked walls, no window netting for privacy from very close neighbouring buildings, and was falling apart. Notably the under sink cupboard that was held together by sellotape and a wardrobe door that fell off and nearly injured me. I complained and was moved to their sister property ( The Keppel Head Hotel) but quickly realised that this room was only given to me because it was above the basement bar that plays thumping dance music to 1am. When I complained I was dealt with in a very aggressive and confrontational manner. Apparently asking for loud music to be turned down after 11pm is unreasonable. PLEASE don't waste your money booking this horror of a B&B

Very convenient and clean place...

Liked: The location is very convenient as it is very close (a few mins walk) to the Portsmouth Harbour train station and the Wightlink ferry station to the Isle of Wight. We could not try their breakfast in the hotel as our ferry was before the breakfast start time, but the staff was kind enough to offer to prepare it ahead and give us the packed breakfast during our checkout. It was satisfactory. The room was simple and clean, and everything was functional.
Disliked: The house is very close to the railway and our room was facing it, so it was considerably noisy when trains passed or young people on the street shouted.

Derby County on the road

Liked: The location was brilliant only one minute walk to Portsmouth Harbour train station and Gunwharf Quays. The staff at the Keppels Head Hotel (where you check in) were helpful and polite.
Disliked: The room at the Old Victory House was in a rundown building a few minutes' walk from the Keppels Head Hotel. It was not an inviting interior as I entered the communal hallway. It needed a complete makeover to ensure a welcoming reception to guests. My room (number 1) was off the communal kitchen. It was basic and not particularly welcoming. There were dirty marks and smears on the wall, and it needed a repaint. Plus, a deep clean.I had no chair or side table to place my bags. The wifi was intermittent to poor, and the TV reception was awful, so I couldn't be bothered with it.Between my bedroom and bathroom was a heavy, self closing fire door. The room had no view as the windows were frosted over.Overall, it was a disappointment and I wouldn't return.

Glad i was only in...

Liked: The staff were very friendly in the sister hotel
Disliked: The room was cold, had mould on the walls, really poorly decorated and had bars on the inside of the (poorly maintained and filthy) windows.

A great location

Liked: Location was fantastic. Only a short walk for breakfast but obviously would have preferred it to be on site. One of the rooms 5 was nice but room 1 was not and through the kitchen. Breakfast was good.
Disliked: Room 1 was through the kitchen. Room 5 had a bathroom up 4-5 stairs with no bannister and through a heavy fire door outside the bedroom. Smell of cannabis.

Great price for a good...

Liked: Location was very near the historic docks and the Royal Navy Museum. There were large windows that allowed plenty of sunshine and air into the room, and they also seemed fairly new and provided ample soundproofing - no rattle.
Disliked: The door handles and cupboard handles were coming off a fair bit. The train line is just across the road, making some noise as it pulls into the station. Thankfully though, the trains don't run all night.
