Good stay, excellent position for...
Liked: Staff very welcoming, room large if a bit old fashioned, but comfortable. Excellent breakfast
Disliked: Having to climb into the bath for a shower - bit dangerous for the 70+brigade. Difficulty with opening windows.

Ideal location for central Harrogate...
Liked: Breakfast was great.
Disliked: The room was very hot even with the windows open as far as possible, other guests on the same floor also experienced the same problem.

Pleasant overnight stay
Liked: Lovely garden area to sit out in with plenty of seating.Breakfast was nice and the room which it was served in was beautiful.
Disliked: No air conditioning and it was very hot. Very small top window and room extremely hot. Found a fan in the wardrobe, however lack of plug sockets to be able to watch tv, have the fan on and lamp. Let alone charge a phone or boil the kettle.Dark room

Very Disappointing
Liked: The staff were excellent.
Disliked: My wife and I chose The Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary for three main reasons. The first reason was because couples only ever have one Golden Wedding Anniversary! The second reason was because of its connection with Agatha Christie. My wife being a huge fan!Thirdly, the website read in such glowing terms. The staff, without exception, were magnificent! Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and attentive. The food was amazing although the menu was rather limited. The room was a great disappointment! Nothing remotely like the rooms advertised. The bed kept moving away from the wall. We had to jamb a chair at the foot to stop the movement. The shower room was so tired with loose fittings and broken grouting from the floor tiles. There was a danger of cutting our feet. The view from the window was of a roof! Not a “view over the hotel gardens.” There was not another room available.

Lovely hotel but you need...
Liked: Location, garden, staff
Disliked: The first night we had a room on the first floor with 2 fire doors outside which were not well controlled and banged very loudly repeatedly and made the bed shake. We asked to be moved. The staff very kindly organised a much better quieter room on the top floor for our second night.
