Old Rectory Hotel Crostwick

Very dissapointing

Liked: The lady that looked after us was friendly and wanted to please
Disliked: the food was very bad. There was mould all around my window frame. Because of a wake the following day, we had wake type silk flowers all around us. We were asked if we could have our coffee in another room, which were happy to do. However, we were shown to a back room, where all the furniture that had been moved for the wake was pushed into! The bar area was not available. My companion had a room in a separate building, which seemed ok, however, the room next door was being used by a youngish man, who had the door open and made her feel uncomfortable. to top it off, the description suggested an old property full of character, when in reality it is more of a 'Crossroads Motel'. Finally it suggested amazing gardens, the reality being gardens that were pleasant enough, but it is all set beside a very busy main road, so definitely not a peaceful haven

Liked: Easy to find - good parking. Nice convenient location. Spacious room. Large comfortable bed. Coffee-making facilities ok. Nice pool. Breakfast team very kindly.
Disliked: I messaged the team before going but I got a reply two days after I had left. The decor is a little tired in my opinion. Breakfast fare was ok but lacklustre.

OK stay, uncomfortable for how...

Liked: The staff were really nice. Bed very comfortable.
Disliked: The location wasn't very great (next to a very busy and loud road) Weather was really hot and the room was stuffy and we couldn't open window as the road was so loud. The fan we were given as no AC was so loud too and not very good, just made it quite an unreeling stay for us unfortunately. There was no where to walk to or from at the hotel as the road was so busy which is a shame, we brought our bikes but not really accessible/safe to do so. The cost per night was quite high for the level of the hotel, I was expecting a little luxury but it was quite dated and swimming pool was very small. Very expensive restaurant and bar too.

Great value for money and...

Liked: Fresh milk was a nice touch. Great location and lovely gardens. Great staff and dinner was delicious.
Disliked: Water pressure for the shower was not great.No ironing board was in the room however I did not request one either.

Liked: Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Lovely grounds to sit in on a summer evening. Comfortable bed and soft fluffy towels. Lovely food: evening meal and breakfast.
Disliked: Quite a cramped bathroom. No aircon although the fan was a welcome find in the cupboard. No plug points near the bedside.

We ll definitely be back😃😃

Liked: We liked the style of the hotel, it was quiet and peaceful, the staff were fab and the service was excellent…… we ate in the restaurant and the food was lovely 😃 will definitely stay there again
Disliked: Next time we would up grade our room, although the standard room was fine😃
