The Old Parsonage Hotel is...

Liked: The room was extremely well appointed and spacious. Heated floor tiles in the bathroom were a nice touch! The decor is contemporary and comfortable. We had breakfast in our room both days and ate a delightful dinner on the patio at the fabulous restaurant on site. The location is walkable to the Oxford University campus and other location in town. We also had a dedicated parking spot for our vehicle which was key. Do note, there are no lifts in this charming old property.
Disliked: We arrived on a Thursday and loved our room facing the church. However, we were unprepared for church bell practice that went on for at least an hour and occurs every Thursday evening according to the church's website. It was charming, but quite loud, and an advanced warning would have been appreciated!

Beautiful hotel in excellent location...

Liked: The front entrance is beautiful, parking was excellent , location great for walking to the main sights. Rooms very well appointed and comfortable.
Disliked: The fire was on making the entrance very hot at all times. Getting through the dining space is very cramped and not pleasant to squeeze past people who are trying to eat. The staff service during breakfast was hap hazard, dropped salt and pepper behind the person eating beside us but didn’t apologise. Reached over the middle of party at our table where food was already placed to set down a plate. Breakfast pancakes were awful, thin and burnt.

Awful night's lack of sleep...

Liked: The location of the hotel; the staff were all excellent
Disliked: The bed was terrible. It was tiny in size, but in particular so hard as to cause a lost night's sleep. It was truly awful. I measured the mattress and looked up mattress sizing as this is not a size I had ever seen in Hilton, Marriott, Belmond or any luxury hotel. It was "small double" size. This is the next size up from a "Euro single". Apart from being miniature, it was the rock hard, clearly "economical", and remarkably uncomfortable mattress that prevented sleep. If you want to effectively sleep on the floor, then choose this hotel. The floor has more space.I visit Oxford often and stay at Jeremy Mogford's sister hotel, "The Old Bank Hotel" routinely. This has always been exemplary. I therefore did not expect such a bad experience at The Old Parsonage hotel. I cannot believe Jeremy Mogford has approved this bed. All the staff were excellent, but effectively lack-of-sleeping on the floor means I shall never return.

Liked: Kind and professional staff. Excellent breakfast
Disliked: The cost of the room is quite high. Not a complete privacy in the bathroom due to the door that cannot be closed appropriately.
