Old Monterey Inn

Disliked: On April 20th, 2025 I checked into the Old Monterey Inn. That night there was a mouse behind the head board. I called the after hours number provided in the room four times and left my name and phone number asking for a call back. I explained that I saw a mouse and did not feel comfortable sleeping in that room. By 11:50 pm I did not hear back and left the room due to health concerns. When I returned April 21, 2025 at 10:20 am in the morning Wendy Dominguez finally answered my phone call. She stated that she called pest control and they did not find a mouse and the premises has cats. My room looked exactly as I had left it. Tea cups on the night stands, and decorative pillows removed from the bed on the couch all of which I have photo evidence. I asked her why she didn’t call me back or offer to change the accommodations. She said she did not have my phone number and I had to speak with Booking.com regarding my concerns. At this point I called Booking.com and was informed any refund or room change would need to be made through Wendy. I do not understand why she lied to me that I need to make any accommodations through Booking. Com and that she could not help me. I called Wendy back twice. She answered on the second call at 11:26 am. At this time Wendy stated “I cancelled your reservation this morning. You need to give the key back or I am charging you $500. You are trespassing get off the premises. You cannot stay here.” At this time I asked for a refund and gave her the key. She took the key and said “that’s not fair to me” as she walked away and said “I’m charging you”. I am requesting a full refund because she did not answer or return my calls April 20,2025 even though she had my number to do so. She did not offer to change the accommodations, and SHE CANCELLED the reservation. I did not stay at this hotel or receive any of the services specified in my reservation. Therefore, I am requesting a full refund at the very least.

Liked: Breakfast and service were excellent. The place is gorgeous, and the tub was fantastic.
Disliked: I don't have anything in particular. I thought it was a perfect stay.
