Old Hall Hotel

Overall a lovely stay in beautiful surroundings; rooms were very well presented; breakfast fabulous and all staff were excellent.

Not too bad, but can't...

Liked: Location is central. Breakfast was good.
Disliked: The facilities are quite worn out and tired. There was a strong scent in the room, like perfume accumulated from previous visitors, which triggered my wife's allergy, which was already communicated with the hotel beforehand . We have already asked the hotel to try avoiding using scented air freshener or keeping the room unscented at the time of booking.

Very disappointed with outdated student...

Disliked: The room was awful and not as described. We were in room 12. Upon entering the room it was like student digs. No full height shower in either bathroom. We were meant to have 2 bedrooms with king beds but had 2 singles and a king in 1 room with a single elsewhere. Purposely chose the room so we would not have to share with the teenage boys but ended up all together. Room was not as described at all. Very disappointed. On looking at other rooms we feel we were just bunged in whatever was spare. It was a 50th birthday surprise for the wife. At over £300 for the night it was a disgrace. The place was not clean either. Will not be using this hotel again and will be seeking compensation for quite clearly not getting the room I booked.

Good location, oldest hotel in...

Liked: Good location, large room, plenty of character. Agreed to move us from room 13 above the kitchen due to the noisy roof fan, hot room and food smells
Disliked: Dirty room, dirty carpets, old soap bar in the bathroom and nail clippings on the bedroom carpet - not sure it was fully cleaned before our arrival. Breakfast staff member appeared hungover when he finally appeared from a back room. Average breakfast

Lovely hotel but our accommodation...

Liked: Central location was great, staff informed after booking of event taking place on doorstep with alternative parking suggestions. Wonderful breakfast.
Disliked: We were told our accommodation would be away from event, we were still overlooking event in park. Whilst our accommodation was spacious, it was very tired and felt like we were in staff accommodation. New carpet, coat of paint and a deeper clean would really change the space and make it perfect for family or groups. Not a glimpse of luxury, but fantastic space.
