Very disappointing.

Liked: The staff and the manager were very pleasant.
Disliked: 1 - We were given the wrong room on arrival. Instead of a garden and sea view, we had a room on the side of the hotel, overlooking the roof of the pool. We did get moved, but had to accept a family room.2 - After our long trip, the bar was not open when we arrived, which would not necessarily have been a problem but, aside from one karioke night (which was right under our new room and only served to keep us from sleeping) the bar was not open for our entire stay. Furthermore, there was no bar within walking distance except down on the esplanade, accessible via a lift, which closed at 5.55pm every day.3 - The full English breakfast was nice enough, but consisted of different amounts of each element every single day. We never knew what we were getting until it arrived.4 - Not wishing to cast aspersions, our waitress one morning (who was a nice girl but her English was not good enough) was unable to understand AT ALL, when we complained of the coffee being weak, not strong enough, not enough coffee, too much water - after all that, we still had to speak to someone else.All of these things are small, in themselves, but we were only there for four nights and they combined to spoil our stay. The staff were sorry and we would not dream of actually asking for a refund, but it should have been offered.

Liked: Nice ocean view, staff were friendly and welcoming
Disliked: Very noisy, walls were thin so heard baby crying all night from next room, could hear others talking from next rooms, beds were uncomfortable, room was tiny, no drinking water in room. No shampoo, no mixture taps on sinks, very old build facilities

Very disappointing. We didn't stay....

Liked: Location was ok
Disliked: On arrival to the car park, the whole place looked tired and old. We didn't unpack the car but went inside to see if the interior was better. We checked in and were given room keys (old style keys, not cards). The room was relatively clean but the bed looked awful and the room was very dated. It didn't smell very nice either. We paid extra for the Seaview/garden room. The patio area was dirty and didn't feel welcoming at all. We didn't go and look around the rest of the hotel, knowing we wouldn't be staying. The ladies on reception were helpful enough but the whole hotel was nowhere near the standard expected for the price we paid. If we had paid £40 a night for a budget hotel then we'd expect this standard, however at £140 we expected so much more

Love the hotel, friendliness of...

Liked: I love the big airy rooms, sea views and, as I travel alone (to visit friends on the island), I have come to know the staff well - they are all so very friendly and helpful wherever possible.
Disliked: I was unable to book an evening meal some nights as there were insufficient guests staying for this to be viable. I was unaware of this before I came. Also initially chilly in my room as radiators were not on/working. Torrential rain meant I would have liked somewhere to dry clothes e.g in the bathroom or a drying area in the hotel. Small heater provided instead and I became warm enough for the rest of my stay. These issues won’t put me off coming down however!

Passable

Liked: The hotel has rooms with sea views, so enjoyed those views from our room. Enjoyed using the swimming pool but could do with a bit of TLC - just make it look more welcoming from hotel stairs to the pool. All a bit dated.
Disliked: Hotel needs a bit of TLC. The room could have been a bit more comfortable with better comfortable seating and less furniture. The walls are thin - ie you can hear others cough, speaking - this affected my stay and so my sleep was disturbed.The breakfast could have been better. On checking into the room I found a razor blade on the floor - I thought that was pretty bad luckily not walking (especially this hotel caters for families and elderly stays).
