Superb

Excellent hotel in beautiful surroundings.

Liked: Beautiful location in the countryside. Very relaxing place with helpful staff. Excellent food. Our room was cleaned each day to a high standard.
Disliked: Breakfast was cooked to order on our first 2 days but it was a hot buffet on our last 2 days due to the hotel being very busy. This wasn’t so good as the food wasn’t very hot though cooked well.

Great value for money

Liked: Architecturally stunning. The owners have made full use of all period features and the grounds. The staff were all excellent, and I like that they are empowered to solve problems that are not within their specific area. The food was excellent. Of particular note, the steak and the peppercorn sauce. I loved the home made oat biscuits and black pudding.
Disliked: It’s a minor niggle that the hot water system in The Courtyard is not up to standard but I’m more than prepared to overlook that for the history of the property As usual, there is nothing particular about the breakfast sausage. Please upgrade the bangers!

Great short stay!

Liked: I took my 6yr old daughter and we stayed in the courtyard. I would recommend this as we had a terrace onto the grounds which meant she could go out and explore! The staff were amazing. They did a scavenger hunt and gave my child a robe plus cookies and milk on arrival. The staff were great. An excellent stay for a couple of nights. We visited the wellington country park nearby which is great for kids. A brilliant stay so thankyou!
