The Spotlight on Oakland Cottage Bed and Breakfast

Charming Asheville Retreat Close to the Music Scene

Oakland Cottage Bed and Breakfast is a warm, welcoming home base in Asheville, just a short drive from the city’s top concert venues. Set in a historic house with a relaxed, residential vibe, this 3-star B&B blends vintage charm with modern comforts like free WiFi, air conditioning, and flat-screen TVs. Surrounded by gardens and a cozy front porch, it’s a peaceful spot that still keeps you near the energy of downtown.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re only about 2 miles from downtown Asheville’s biggest concert halls, making this a great choice if you want quick access without the downtown noise. The peaceful setting is ideal for post-show wind-downs, and the 24-hour front desk and concierge make late-night arrivals and next-day planning easy. Free parking and a short ride-share to major venues mean no stress about getting back late.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends who want to stay together in a homey setting
Solo travelers catching a once-in-a-lifetime show
Couples making a romantic weekend out of a concert night
Fans seeking a quiet space to crash after a wild encore
Budget-conscious music lovers who appreciate value and charm

Food and Drink Options

A hearty American breakfast is served daily, with warm dishes and local flavors—ideal after a late night. While there’s no on-site restaurant, the B&B is close to plenty of walkable dining spots, and the concierge is happy to help with recommendations. Each room is equipped with a coffee maker for those early mornings.

Nightlife Options

While the B&B itself stays quiet, you’re just minutes from Asheville’s buzzing downtown bar scene, where live music, craft beer, and rooftop lounges are easy to find. It’s a short ride to spots that keep the party going long after the encore ends.

What People Say

Guests rave about the comfortable beds, friendly staff, and the homey atmosphere. Many love the peaceful setting that’s still close to all the action. The breakfast gets great reviews, and travelers appreciate the spacious rooms and historic charm.

Areas for Improvement

The only minor downside? It’s not a high-rise hotel with a bar downstairs—if you’re looking for a party hub, this isn’t it. Also, check-out is at 10:30 AM, which can feel early after a late-night show, but the staff will do their best to accommodate when possible.

The Bottom Line

A cozy, quiet, and charming spot for concert-goers who want to stay close to the music without sacrificing peace and comfort.

Sam, Charlotte, visiting The Grey Eagle Tue, 8 December 2015

Wonderful 3 night experience. We were impressed with the cleanliness and coziness of the inn. The food was excellent (as prepared by our innkeeper, Steve). The B&B was centrally located to everywhere we wanted to go. We will definitely stay there again the next time we are in Nashville.

The Little Garden Room

Liked: This B&B is perfect for a quiet, cozy, and relaxing stay. Fresh breakfast made by Erica or Britt each morning was delicious! Loved staying here during Christmas, the holiday decor in the common area was the perfect touch. I liked how we came home at the end of the day to fresh baked goodies that were yummy! My room was very spacious, cute, and unique with bird decor.
Disliked: No complaints! Will definitely be back.

Very nice beginning spoiled by the 3rd day disruption to the ambience and inadequate owner response.

Liked: The innkeeper greeted us upon arrival and was very helpful describing the history of the location and providing tips. The king sized room had an adjoining room overlooking the front garden.
Disliked: After breakfast on the first day we were told that the next morning a photographing crew would be visiting to take photographs of guests at breakfast and we had the option to refrain from participating. However, when we went down to have our breakfast we were confronted by a noisy family sitting at a large table in the middle of the dining room allowing their small child to cough without covering their mouth all of who were there to be photographed but who disrupted the relaxed ambience expected of a high class B&B. Although the innkeeper agreed to let us take breakfast in our room, this episode showed complete disregard for the comfort of other guests and negatively impacted an otherwise enjoyable stay. We didn't see the innkeepers on the last day of our stay and no apology was given. We wrote to them following our visit and were awaiting their response before writing this review but unfortunately it was somewhat dismissive arguing that such inconveniences are typical for the industry.

All that we wanted - older home full of character, comfortable, feel welcome, great food.

Liked: Innkeepers were great - helpful, pleasant, both excellent chefs. The breakfasts were amazing! Loved finding the homemade cookies when we returned in the evening. Our hosts had done amazing research and loved learning about the history of the home and some of Asheville.
