Liked: As an interior designer I follow Kit Kemp and love her style. I?ve stayed at other Firmdale Hotels but not stayed this one before. In that sense, it?s another triumph! Apart from that, the staff were great, the bed was supremely comfortable and the breakfast was fab! Highly recommended!
Disliked: Not a thing!

Very expensive room let down...
Liked: Lovely location and room very nice but vastly overpriced especially in the current circumstances.
Disliked: Very expensive for a nice but average quality room. Was charged for tea on top on room rate with no facilities in the room. Very poor for a hotel costing that much.

Staying post covid
Liked: The property is in a good locationOverall the firmdale properties are of a high standard Bedrooms and lounges have pretty decor
Disliked: Pillows are dreadful, no support. This is typical of most firmdales having stayed at 5 different ones nowPublic union car park is nearby, unsure why you haven?t linked up with them offering guests discounts when you can?t park outside upon visiting I felt it important to outline what little protection you have at this hotel post / during covid, especially if older more vulnerable guests plan to stay. Staff do not wear masks for example at breakfast (serving your food, pouring all drinks for you) and also room service. In fact, with the latter, the staff come into your room! I have experienced other hotels where they refrain from doing this and wear masks which would be much better! I?m sure the hotel will probably say all our staff are temperature checked on arrival but so are other hotels, I don?t see why the staff here should be exempt.Staff do not insist guests wear masks! Sadly we saw guests not wearing masks when talking to staff at reception. Whilst a note at the front desk is visible requesting guests wear masks in public areas, the staff do not ask or confront guests when they do not so really what is the point?! Guests may have legitimate reason not to wear masks, but I expect the staff to do this.In the bedrooms, you are allowed to use the air con units, and also it?s a minor thing but there is no protective wrapping around telephones or tv remote controls which is high risk for guest to guest contact. What they have done is have screens at reception, a sign asking guests to wear masks in communal areas and cleaning service to the room is upon request oh and removed the mini bar snacks/drinks from the fridges.

Very comfortable, extremely clean, beautifully...
Liked: Sadly breakfast was the disappointing element in an otherwise perfect stay.
On both occasions the bacon had been precooked instead of cooked to order which isn?t acceptable in a 5 star boutique hotel.
The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable if on the small size.
Disliked: As above
