Comfortable and safe stay

Liked: Large quiet room, very clean and well heated. The location is good and a train station close by. Supplies of coffee and tea were replenished every day which helped to make up for the lack of breakfast facilities.
Disliked: There is a beer garden at the back of the Hotel which can be noisy. There was one gathering there during the week but it finished by 8pm and was not a problem, but be aware if booking in the future.

Clean and Comfortable, but with...

Liked: Staff were very attentive and welcoming, bit of a long wait for service in the Beer Garden, but as it was the first Friday of lockdown being lifted, we had to accept that they were much busier than anticipated. Room was clean, tidy and Comfortable.
Disliked: Car park is not very well sign posted and access is narrow, not much they can do about this, but once construction work is completed hopefully it will be a little easier to turn into and out of the car park. Construction work is being undertaken to improve facilities. We accept that Covid caused the premises to be substantially closed. Our impression is that this resulted in a reduction of routine maintenance inspections. There were a number of minor defects, which should have been found by routine maintenance, NOT HOUSEKEEPING. A lamp was out in the main Light of the room. The plug mechanism did not properly work in the wash hand basin. Shower switching and temperature was difficult to control.

Passable

Liked: Evening dinner was excellent and staff very attentive. Check in was average
Disliked: Room we had was freezing. The duvet on the bed was too small for the size of bed. Thankfully we discovered a blanket and a small electric fan heater.
