Liked: Front desk when we checked in we're awesome. Greeted in te reo, happy bright aataahua faces.Indian man on the buffet reception Sunday morning, not so much. He told us (from the opposite end of the bar) to fill out the voucher, first time we have ever had to do this when staying at Novotel Tainui and when I couldn't quite hear him because "he was on the opposite end of the counter by the coffee machine" he did that thing with his face and eyes to show us that he was annoyed that he actually had to come over and explain like we were an inconvenience to him, and then proceeded to speak to us like we were 5 year olds! How frikken rude, and I told him that as well. Did he think because we were Maaori and not flash paakeha that he had a right to speak to us like that! Customer Service! I have told at least 10 people about my experience with him, but remained professional about the positive experience with staff and facilities at the Novotel Tainui. Rant over.
Disliked: The poor customer service experience with the male employee at the breakfast buffet counter. He had chilled out somewhat when we later ordered our free tea and drink, and was much more polite.

Liked: Restaurant food good but awful music background . Virtually no lounge at all except for about 4 seats.
Disliked: Room dreadfully cramped with 2 double beds Shower over bath. No couch in room. Parking extra 40$ Aircon control hopeless.
