Training hotel for students. Great...

Liked: Modern, clean and facilities
Disliked: Location was just outside Leeuwarden town centre.

A fine hotel run by...

Liked: About 30 min walk from the city center (a bus line is also an option). The room was nice and clean, industrial style interior design. A comfy bed, breakfast a la carte gives a feeling of a real restaurant experience. We liked the fact that the hotel was run by the students of the hotel school, extra polite and obviously well-taught. A prior dinner reservation at the hotel restaurant is required (a nice menu for a more than a reasonable price). Therefore we couldn't dine there on the evening of arrival, which is understandable.
Disliked: Toiletries are all in the form of little bars. Good for the environment, but a bit difficult to use (too small and falling from the hands). We couldn't find a hair dryer, which, as we found during the check-out, is stored somewhere in a drawer in the room. A note about it in the bathroom would have been handy.

Liked: Staff enthusiastic and friendly.
Disliked: The lighting controls in the room were far too complex. 6 mystery unlabelled black buttons.And an option to control it via the TV. And an option to use an app We would have preferred a straightforward switch that "just worked" to the over complex system they used.

Liked: Super friendly staff, nice touches (chocolate)
Disliked: We couldn't connect to the TV (staff was very helpful though and attentive!), breakfast options (I can't have gluten) (we went to have breakfast in the city, so it wasn't a big deal)
