Founded as a coaching inn in the early 19th century this charming 3-star hotel is situated in the ancient city of Brechin and now offers high-standard accommodations. The Northern Hotel has a long tradition of hospitality and has been welcoming travelers to the Angus area for nearly 200 years. Friendly staff, good food and...

Liked: Friendly staff that took an interest in you having a good stay. The food was excellent and freshly made using local produce. Parking was good and of the street.The location was good as in the town centre and good for a long or short walks around the town.
Disliked: Nothing in particular springs to mind.

There for one night, fire...

Liked: Staff was niceParking in the compound.Downstairs facility was nice Elevator if neededBath was clean
Disliked: The carpet in the room was very dirty and burned or worn out in one spot, there was dust on the curtains, chairs were dirty, mattress must have been a box spring which was very uncomfortable to my side. Window in bath wouldn't stay opened, very heavy and dropped on my fingers. Cheep furniture. Tacky bed headboard.

Liked: Breakfast was okay nothing special adequate
Disliked: Rooms a bit dated but it’s an old hotel they have tried their best to spruce up.

very disappointed as it was...

Liked: It took 10 minutes to find staff to order breakfast
Disliked: The window didn't close. The room was right above the smokers marquee and so noisy until 2am. There was a wedding on in the hotel and again I think our room was directly above the venue room. Also had to call reception at 11.30pm as constantly throughout the evening a group of children were running round the corridors shouting obcenities and foul language, knocking on our door and screaming laughing. This went on until after midnight.
