NormanHurst Hotel

We got to the hotel to check in, only to be taken around the back to a block of old flats. The wallpaper in our room was peeling off, one of the lights hanging out, damp around the window, cobwebs all over the room, a rug that was going up the wall as it didn’t fit. Carpets were dirty all around the hotel. When we left for the day, we got back to lovely clean towels however our room was unlocked so anyone could have been in our room for the hours we were gone. £197 room (for one night) to be told breakfast is an extra £10 per person. My partner and myself ended up checking out around 10pm and driving home. Our first time in Manchester and it was such a disappointment. I wish I could add pictures to this review.

Staff great . Accommodation disappointing

Liked: Staff were very friendly well presented & helpful throughout the stay and when I rang in advance . The foyer & dining room was lovely clean and breakfast was great . For me the location was great with lots of parking
Disliked: The front of the house was lovely but my room was in a grotty annex at the back of the house which was disappointing and which is in serious need of a refurb and paint throughout the building. Nothing like the photos . The room & bed was clean but the carpets awful & stained room very hot with no air con and ground floor so didn’t want to leave window open. hot tap was hanging loose . Microwave was welcome & tea and coffee . Fridge not functioning well. I can’t comment on any of the rooms inside the house.

Liked: This is a run down property. The room had a very strong smell of sweaty feet. The lovely girl on reception tried to disguise the smell whilst I was out for a meal. She offered a discount in the morning. The man on the desk the following morning was much more dismissive and unhelpful. His comment was that he would look in to it.
Disliked: The smell. The carpets were vile.

Disliked: Your advertising pictures of the hotel need updating. We were extremely disappointed upon arrival. It could be a fantastic hotel. Very tired interior and exterior grounds need tending to.

Liked: Staff were amazing, front of house at check in was knowledgeable. Jackie at breakfast was very attentive. The team work on the grounds worked very hard.
Disliked: Carpark was a little tight on night 1 but thats about all.
