diabolically poor

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: Most of it. The first room offered was very small, with the TV appearing to be hanging off the wall and somewhat down at heel, however the largest problem was the noise from the kitchen fans which at 3pm were more than clearly audible. The receptionist was very good and after being shown an alternative we were allocated a room some distance from the fans. We went out to explore the town and returned at 1800 to have a shower before dinner when we noticed that the ensuite window was not frosted glass and worse still the outside decking of the hotel bar which was full of people had a very clear view into the bathroom. We managed to shower by having the blind fully closed and realised it would have to be fully closed all the time shower was poor in that it leaked onto the floor and the sink tap was extremely difficult to turn off. We also realised that the noise from the bar decking was worse than the fans. We went to the reception only to discover there was no reception cover post 5pm and there was no one to raise theses issues with. We spoke to a member of staff running he coffee shop in te reception area to advise that given there was no one available to resolve these issues we would rather drive the near 3hour trip back home than stay the night. We were promised someone would telephone the next day (25.07.25) we are still waiting. A loss of £137.00 but a lesson not to stay at this sort of place in the future. It was basically a pub with rooms reminiscent of the 1950s, to be fair the 4 or 5 old beds casually discarded in the car park on our arrival should have told us to simply leave then and carry on home

Comfortable nights stay in original...

Liked: Centrally located with off road parking. The room was well presented, tastefully furnished in keeping with the age of the hotel. Comfortable nights stay. The restaurant and bar provided a good choice of food and drinks.
Disliked: Breakfast buffet cereals, fruit etc was somewhat limited and pre-ordered hot food was a little underwhelming in terms of portion size. Would have been nice to be offered a top up with the coffee jug.

Pleasant stay.

Liked: Great location, period building. Breakfast was lovely.
Disliked: No shower in en-suite, booking didn’t highlight this. Evening meal in the restaurant was disappointing.

Perfect for a stop over.

Liked: Excellent location. Very good evening meal.
Disliked: Has to ask for orange juice and then bread for toast to be replenished at breakfast. I don’t like food waste, but it felt a bit mean.
