Disappointed and ripped off for...

Liked: The location
Disliked: The extremely overinflated price for a very small and average room. Cigarette burn in the robe. Requested a quiet room and was placed near the cupboard which housed a very noisy water tank. No water in fridge, no shower gel - rectified on request. No nail file but empty packet left. Chipped and old bath. Fire alarm went off and the procedure was poor, no clear communication about what was going on and no roll call. Thankfully a false alarm. Window did not open and seemed no aircon. Breakfast was great - really good food. Service at breakfast was a bit poor as we weren’t informed of what was on offer or included.

Liked: We thoroughly enjoyed our three-night stay at this charming hotel. Our spacious room on the fourth floor was a true delight – incredibly comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. The staff were exceptional, consistently professional, and always eager to assist, making our stay even more pleasant.The hotel's location offers the best of both worlds: a remarkably quiet and safe neighborhood for restful nights, yet within a manageable distance of Edinburgh's iconic sights. We found the 20-25 minute walk to Edinburgh Castle and the Old Town's attractions to be an enjoyable part of our daily routine, even with Edinburgh's famously hilly terrain. However while we enjoyed the walk each day the hilly terrain might present a challenge for some visitors.

Liked: We had booked the Nira to stay somewhere close to the Botanics as we were getting married there on the Saturday. We had booked a wee double but on arrival we were told they had upgraded us to the junior suite which was stunning! They had left a lovely card and chocolates in the room for us. On the Saturday of the wedding they sent up a bottle of champagne for us. All these extras added to a very special time for us. All the staff we so welcoming, attentive and very friendly. We can't thank them enough.

Liked: A super area to stay, away from the busy streets of tourists. Definitely a hip place, with Stockbridge only minutes away full of cool cafes, pubs and second hand/charity shopping. The staff were also so helpful and accommodating.
Disliked: The water pressure was too low in the sink.

Liked: Lovely building in a quiet area and close to town. Staff were fantastic and breakfast was great.
Disliked: Our room was a little cold due to the radiator not working.

Nice small hotel close to...

Liked: Great room, loved the garden view, loved the ambiance. Spacious bathroom, quality toiletries, very clean. Great assistance from day staff
Disliked: I hate the lack of soundproofing. My room was on the first floor, and if someone is speaking loudly on the ground floor it feels like they're right at your door. I understand the charm of the old building and doors but it is quite annoying.
