Newport Marriott Hotel & Spa, Newport

Room was adequate and comfortable but small and unexceptional for the price they were charging. You expect 5-star luxury for this price. But this hotel was middling in all aspects.

Liked: Nice open space with excellent gym, pool, and parking services.
Disliked: Extremely overpriced for what it is. Service in the restaurant was very slow. Food was fine but overpriced for what you got.

Disappointing. This stay did not...

Liked: I am generally a fan of Marriott, and have been to this property before and enjoyed it. It is in a very convenient location, and has valet parking, and the the restaurant has water views. It is a short walk to all the attractions in downtown.
Disliked: I was very disappointed by my stay. I reserved a standard King, but was switched upon arrival into an accessible room on the ground floor. I checked in at 6:30 pm, and was told there were no other rooms available. The mattress was sagging and uncomfortable (which is unfortunate, because I usually love the Marriott mattresses). I woke up the next morning (with a stiff back) to find there was no hot water, and took a very cold shower. When I asked the front desk staff if I could speak with a manager, they told me it was not a "Marriott problem" and I should just "write it in my review." The total bill for a single overnight stay (and parking, taxes, and fees) came to $928.27. At the very least, I would have expected a comfortable bed and a warm shower in the morning

The Marriot and Spa in...

Liked: The property was just beautiful! It had everything we wanted. With a Nautical theme, it felt like we were on a cruise ship! The Spa was excellent and the restaurants were wonderful.

Disliked: Getting a forced credit that I had to spend at the hotel.

Liked: For the most part the staff was good, some of the staff at the from desk were not very helpful and did not go out of the way to help out. The valet staff was excellent, restaurant staff excellent, front desk people not so much including the manager who was at the desk the morning go August 14th.
Disliked: The room was really small for the price that we paid. We also had a view of a parking lot. the room did not have sufficient lighting, we could not open the blinds because people could see in our room from the parking lot. We should have complaint the fist day but we did not. When we checked out, we brought it up to the front desk manager, and she was not apoligetic at all, kind said oh well you should have complained the first day.

Decent place, but probably not...

Liked: Good location, room bathroom was excellent as was the hotel gym.
Disliked: Paid extra for a water view room. Was under the impression it was a private balcony. What it actually was was a shared patio with about 10 other rooms with a slightly obstructed water view.
