Okay for a night.

Liked: 10% of food and drinks if staying there, only acknowledged by some staff, they should know who is staying or not.central to the village, bed was comfortable.
Disliked: Shower was dirty, room tired and weirdly furnished. Could only just get the kettle under the tap to fill. Bathroom fan extremely noisy. Very noisy outside from 7.30am. Definitely not value for money, it was like a slightly better backpackers. Expensive because it's in Arrowtown, the rooms didn't reflect the price

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Very Disappointing

Liked: Location
Disliked: Plumbing in the pipes and extractor fans noisy at night, which kept waking us up. Shower pressure very poor, water kept going hot and cold.Although we paid over $700 for the room, they could not even provide us with bathroom basin plug, (we did ask a couple of times) so my husband could have a shave. We have to drive to Frankton 16km away to buy one as no stores in town sell plugs. The management put through the room payment on the morning before we arrived at midday, processing it as a credit card with any extra $20+ fees when it should have been put thru as a debit card with no fees upon arrival. I was not made aware that they would be doing this. The bar staff overcharged us for our meals and drinks on Easter Sunday. When I questioned the amount, I was told that there was a holiday surcharge on the Sunday as well as Good Friday and Easter Monday. However I found out afterwards that Easter Sunday is not a public holiday in NZ. This was not the kind of dishonesty, I would have expected to experience in NZ. The hotel did not have its's own parking which I was expecting. Being Easter, Arrowtown was extremely busy and parking was difficult to find especially close by. I was expecting the 'New Orleans Hotel' to be a beautiful old historical Hotel, run by a publican. Any but. All the staff were all young foreigners (backpackers), We didn't spot any locals/Kiwis amongst them.

Great location for one night...

Liked: Location was fantastic, right in the middle of Arrowtown. Close to everything, shops, restaurants, walks, river etc. The room was small but adequate for a couple.
Disliked: Room 6 was right beside/below some very noisy aircon units running ALL day and night, which made for a very restless nights sleep. The Sky TV unit was incredibly slow and basically unresponsive, meaning the TV was unusable.

Superb

Liked: Nice and close to Queenstown, but a lot cheaper than trying to stay in Queenstown itself. Quaint little pub in a historic town. Staff were very helpful when we had issues with the air conditioner. We were able to park close to entrance.

Warm, clean, friendly staff, good...

Liked: The location was great, and staff were helpful and friendly
Disliked: The carpet looked like it had seen better days and the room could use a bit of a cosmetic lift
