Comfortable, Budget-Friendly Stay Near New Haven’s Music Scene

Modern, no-frills and conveniently located, the New Haven Inn is a wallet-friendly spot just off I-95 and a short ride from downtown New Haven’s top music venues. Only four miles from Yale University and close to the Peabody Museum, this hotel is ideal for concert-goers who want a simple, clean place to rest after a night out. Rooms are equipped with essentials like coffee makers, cable TV, and hair dryers, and the executive and whirlpool suites offer a little extra comfort.

Why Concert-goers love it

The New Haven Inn is just a quick drive from downtown venues like the historic Shubert Theater and New Haven Green, where outdoor concerts and festivals happen regularly. With free 24-hour coffee and continental breakfast, it’s a solid pick for those catching late shows or early encores. It’s also pet-friendly, so no need to leave your furry friend behind. Noise levels are generally low thanks to its location outside the city center, making it a great place to unwind post-show.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends road-tripping to a festival
Solo travelers catching a must-see artist
Couples making a weekend out of it
Fans who prefer peace and quiet after the gig
Budget-conscious concert lovers looking to save on lodging

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, you’ll find free continental breakfast daily and 24-hour coffee service in the lobby—perfect after a late night. There are several eateries a short drive away, including diners and takeout options open late. Don’t expect 24/7 room service, but the basics are covered.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, it’s just minutes from bars, clubs, and lounges in downtown New Haven. Whether you're into dive bars or craft cocktails, there's something for everyone nearby. The Shubert Theater and New Haven Green often feature performances and events you can walk or Uber to easily.

What People Say

Guests love the clean rooms, affordability, and ease of access to downtown. Many reviewers mention how quiet and comfortable the hotel is, especially after a noisy night out. The free parking and pet-friendly policy also earn high marks.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention the decor is a bit dated and that Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby—not the best for streaming your favorite band after the show. Still, for the price and location, most agree it’s a fair trade-off.

The Bottom Line

If you’re looking for a clean, no-fuss place to crash after a concert in New Haven, the New Haven Inn delivers comfort, convenience, and value.

Okay for a night if...

Liked: I liked being upstairs and parking being close. The staff were very friendly! They allowed me to have my two cats free of charge. I really appreciated it because they did not have to do that for me.
Disliked: Cleanliness. I saw a baby roach crawling in the night. I also didn’t feel very safe in the room. There was not a second lock and the door was very hard to close. The beds were also dented in and very uncomfortable. I woke up with pain.

Liked: Leaving
Disliked: You will probably get robbed. Then be haunted in your room. This place should be condemned. Your life is worth a few dollars more. I only lasted 2 hours.

unenjoyable

Liked: the room had a nice ac unit. the bath tub plug worked.
Disliked: this cheap motel was rough. when I arrived, the man at the counter was upset that I had arrived an hour early. he had to make a call to tell his employee that I had arrived an hour early. he asked me if I would be willing to take a 1 bed smoking room which I refused. finally he gave me my key card. you need to walk through a scary back parking lot to get to another building. there are wax heroin baggies in the stairwells. there was graffiti on the walls of the stairwell that said something like "this is hell" my ominous door had black cigarette butt scuffs on it, peeling paint. two neatly made beds and a nice tv. unfortunately my TV would not turn off and so I had to listen to it falling asleep. the bathroom had a window that was painted over. i got into one bed but smelled some funny smells so changed to the other bed. In the morning I went to check out. I asked the woman at the front desk where the nearest bus stop was. there was a language barrier but she basically told me that the bus drives by the edge of the hotel property. the only thing in walking distance is a Muslim mosque. I asked the mosque where the nearest bus stop is but couldn't understand me and they escorted me off of their property and told me "this is temple not food" I had to order an Uber because there was no bus stop nearby that I could find and the people hanging around this motel were less than friendly looking.
