Exceptional

Lovely hotel and grounds.

Liked: Lovely hotel, gorgeous location, but we didn't have a chance to visit the spa as we were only there for a short time. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food and drinks are good. Planning to visit again for Sunday dinner and maybe a chance to use the spa.

Fabulous hotel with super friendly...

Liked: Lovely room. Super staff. Breakfast choices were excellent and staff so friendly, and open to changing things etc. We really enjoyed the pool too.
Disliked: Nothing really - anything extra we wanted during the stay was provided.

Liked: A hidden gem, steeped in history with excellent facilities, lovely grounds, easy to get to. Spa facilities were great, we booked treatments and an afternoon tea in the garden, very special.

Overall the experience was fabulous,...

Liked: The surroundings, the calm nature, the peace, the bed, the staff, the pool and pool and spa, the gym although small was very functional.
Disliked: The breakfast options were sugary and quite limited. Continental usually have nice breads, cheeses and jams. The cooked breakfast was quite small and the fruit and healthier cereal options could have been better. Also the option.of real butter with breakfast would have been nice.

A horrible overpriced hotel

Disliked: This hotel has the facade of grandness but on close inspection it is very dirty and a health hazard. There is a bench by the lake which we went to sit on only to discover the lawn was covered in animal poo. The whole lawn was covered. We then went to another area where there were benches, they too were covered in bird poo. The bedroom was dusty, the table we sat on in the bar was dirty, the room where we were served breakfast was filthy. When we arrived we were told the bar was only serving cold sandwiches as an evening meal due to a kitchen refurbishment. We should have been made aware of this before we arrived. We retired to bed feeling hungry and immensely disappointed. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone else. Hand Picked Hotels? Hand picked by someone who does not understand what a good hotel looks and feels like.
