Well worth finding!

Liked: I missed breakfast. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay however. The hotel is located actually on the Royal Welsh showground, so a unique setting. When I checked out there was a dog show in progress which was great to spend time at. The bar and restaurant are both lovely. Had a good chat with the owner. Thoroughly recommend this place.
Disliked: They have difficulty with signage. Their directions get swamped by the signage of the showground itself. Once you know it however, the location is straightforward. Go out of Builth northwards over the river Wye. Go past the two garages ( one either side), at the roundabout turn left and drive half a mile to the first right turn at the edge of the showground. Take that turn and go up the small hill and turn right. You will be entering the showground. Keep going straight for 200 metres and you will see the hotel entrance up a slight bank. Lovely garden area at the front.

Quiet, pleasant stay with no...

Liked: Breakfast excellent. Room and bathroom perfectly adequate and plenty of hot water. Very quiet so easy to sleep. Very pleasant country surroundings.
Disliked: Pegs to hang clothes on not securely fixed to walls so hangers slipped off. Walls were plasterboard so more secure fixings required ie those specifically designed for plasterboard walls.

Disliked: Cleanliness of room was poor. The toilet seat was stained with urine. Definitely from previous guest which was dried up and not cleaned by the housekeeper. The room had an ominous odour, a mixture of pet urine and chemical. The bed linen was old and had clearly seen better days. Coffee cup had stains, wasn’t properly washed probably rinsed and put back.

Disliked: After riding a bike all day arrived at the lodge, tried to book an evening meal, told no chef !, so ok tried to get a drink at the bar told no bar tonight !, Said ok I will wait to have breakfast in the morning then told the kitchen wasn’t open in the morning not even a continental breakfast ??even though they had sent me messages reminding me to try the food etc. This is a Saturday night mid summer..crazy ! Had to walk 40 minutes round trip into the town to find food really spoiled the experience. Also doors banging in the lobby hallway at night as door closers not adjusted to close quietly. Got up and wedged them open to try and sleep. On a positive there was a kettle and tea or coffee in the room.
