Good

Uncomfortable in many ways

Liked: Had a nice view onto a water dispenser that attracted birds to watch.Had our own bathroom.Host gave some tipps on sights and offered to share AT Hop Cards with us.
Disliked: Towels didn't smell fresh.Door had no lock which is an absolute no-go in a shared facility.Host projects their own insecurities onto the world and sprinkles every conversation with more or less subtle racism, which gave us a super uncomfortable start into our journey.

Travelling NZ

Liked: The location and the easy access to Auckland via the bus (Hop It card borrowed from host)
Disliked: Unfortunately the elderly hosts were not well and both getting around with walkers. The house was untidy and dirty, due to the frailty of the hosts. No locks on bathroom or bedroom doors. We did not have the room we should have due to the illness of one of the hosts. We should have been advised that it was not available and we would have gone somewhere else. Because if we cancelled we would have incurred a significant cost.

Wonderful location and a lovely...

Liked: Fantastic location and excellent value for money. Loved sitting out on the terrace looking over to the bay. Absolute heaven. So handy for Auckland central and beautiful Mission Bay. Buses run frequently between the two placed. Loved the breakfast - the hoist really went out of his way to please. Room spacious (we has the ensuite) and so quiet at night could hear a pin drop. Had full range of the house including the kitchen, lounge and, as mentioned, the wonderful terrace. And such a peaceful setting.
Disliked: I rarely rate anything at a two but on this occasion I felt it inevitable - The fridge could have been cleaner. Secondly the parking was a bit of a challenge. A very steep drive - OK for the most confident of drivers but many guests perhaps drive a rental car so not totally familiar with it. May be better to park on the street. And last but no least - the hoist seemed to struggle without his wife who he said was unwell at the time. We wish her a speedy recovery. Then in fairness its a lot for one person to see to all the guests, the breakfast and the cleaning and he did his very best to ensure our stay was a pleasing experience - which it certainly was.

Funny place on the beach....

Liked: Location - on the beach. The host is quite a character. The house is pretty. Breakfast is nice. The bedroom and the bathroom are nice.
Disliked: There is no air conditioner, Auckland was warm and the night was hot. Parking requires careful steering and patience. I had to spent some time and use a spotter to park properly. There is no lock on the bedroom door.
