Disappointing

Liked: Most of the staff were pleasant.Nice big building with plenty of parking.
Disliked: Waiting times in the restaurant was poor. I believe the restaurant was understaffed for busy periods.Myself and a number of other guests were left waiting far too long either for orders to be taken and/or courses to be served. A number of guests including myself complained.On 2 nights out of 3 there was a set menu. Not what was on the website. I did complain about the restaurant service to the server, the chef and a manager. They listened but really didn't comment. Disappointing.Restaurant and lounge area were not heated very well. I had a walk around the building several times.Bins were overflowing. Bin area next to smoking shelter. Possible Fire hazard?

Disliked: All the rooms were too hot and we were unable to open the window in our bedroom to get some fresh air, even the dining room was too hot. Wifi not available in some rooms

Disliked: Room was not clean. Crack right around the sink and no plugs in sink or bath. Bed was very hard as were the pillows.Meal menus for the first couple of days were not very good. Getting wrong meals and then when getting the correct one it was still frozen in middle.Breakfast was ok.Found that restaurant staff did not have a clue what they were suppose to do. No organisational skills what so ever.

Liked: Location is great and good value for money, rooms and bathrooms clean.
Disliked: Low staff so we didnt have room service during our stay (4nights), I am not fussy and can do my own bed but we had to ask for toilet rolls and we never had rubbish taken from rooms.

Liked: Due to this hotel being closed on the morning of our arrival, which we were informed about, we were moved to their sister hotel in Tyndrum and this review is based on that hotel. Slight hiccup on trying to check in but eventually everything was sorted and we were given a triple room.
Disliked: Wi-Fi not available in room only in area of reception. On check out requested to pay even though we had pre paid as part of the Hotels terms and conditions.

Never again

Liked: The location of the hotel was lovely and the views were nice. I stayed in Ben Doran hotel as Dalmally closed.
Disliked: Sink and toilet were loose, tv reception was bad and was almost unwatchable. Not the hotels fault but phone signal was poor but the hotel wifi in the room was pretty much nothing at all. It was very tatty in places and in the bar area the window hinges have heavy rust. There was other issues but i guess things cant be perfect all the time. Not a big issue but it makes guests wonder what else is wrong if this is on show. Lack of communication from staff as we found bar was not open at 6.30pm and then it closed before 9pm. We heard voices till quite late from out the back somewhere and having read other reviews from guests saying it was the staff that do this till early hours of the moring and we could smell people smoking weed.
