Disliked: Hire a better receptionist if you want your place to be decent. For the duration of my trip I had an issue with the young, Latino American man working. I?m assuming he is Latino because he was speaking fluent Spanish with other employees. I addressed a safety issue with him and clearly made a simple request that was not honored. When I followed up about the safely issue, he blamed other employees for the failure to communicate and told me I could have texted the hotel. I?m busy person and was waiting a couple days for this guy to address my issue. I shouldn?t have to track down a receptionist to feel safe. I would appreciate either the owner or the executive manager of the hotel to contact me for more details. The safely issue at hand - I came back to my private room late at night and it was unlocked. The door was cracked open and was obviously unlocked. I was scared for my life to go into the room. I thought about screaming but also didn?t want to wake up the entire hotel in the case nothing was wrong. Just because the receptionist doesn?t worry about violence and sexual assault to the extent a woman has to...well, that doesn?t excuse his incompetence and pompous behavior.

Would've been nice if not...
Liked: Staff were really nice, and cleaning was regular and thorough. My bed was made every day. Great service for a hostel!
Disliked: The hostel needs stricter rules around use of perfumes and aerosol deodorants in the rooms, I had two cohabitors who kept spraying stuff because they felt "the room was stuffy". Made it very hard to breathe and as a result I couldn't enjoy my stay. Upper bunks don't have shelves or anywhere where one can place a laptop, or pants or something. There isn't much of a common area, other than the tiny recreation room. If i wanted to work on my laptop, I needed to either snag a spot in the recreation room next to a power socket, or stay in my room. The latter wasn't pleasant, as mentioned earlier. Why is there no soap in the shower room? Towards the end of my stay, I discovered there were little shampoo bottles in the dorms, but I'm not sure if they were supplied by the hostel, or belonged to someone in the room. Confusing! Alsoooo, maybe the lack of a proper shower was what was compelling people to tend more towards deodorant/perfume..
