Ruth J, Cardiff , visiting Malvern Theatres
We decided to stay at the Mount Pleasant after booking for the theatre when we saw it was within walking distance. What a mistake we made! We should have realised when we were asked for payment before and a fifty pound deposit for damages! As we left for a walk after checking in we only had a vague idea of what was ahead. When we returned from the theatre and tried to settle on the beds they creaked with every move. The pillows were lumpen and the linen worn. The back of the bath was covered with mould and the so called bath towels minute and thin. Neither of us managed to sleep on the tired mattresses and after hearing some else's toilet motions through the very thin walls we decided to have an early breakfast. We were shocked to be presented with a flask of tea which we were expected to pour ourselves, a paltry show of cereal and a sad bowl of a few pears and grapes. Then the star of the show - a toaster with a pile of big standard sliced bread - make your own toast when the room was £105. We tried to laugh it off, but still ache from the bad beds. I tried twice to contact the proprietor to discuss the situation but he has remained unavailable. Dear guests, if you feel you wish to stay in this awful place just pop into the ladies toilet close to the back entrance and look at the wall paper administered by a manic decorator who believes in a new pleated arrangement and you will see this is a metaphor for the amount of care shown in this hotel. Beware!
Liked: The staff who tried to cover up were young and pleasant.
Disliked: Faulty towers, more youth hostel than hotel but hotel prices!

Liked: Helpful, friendly Reception at all times. Rescued me two days running when I could not turn the shower off! Bed really comfortable. Friendly Staff at breakfast. Food was delicious and plentiful. Cleaning Staff were friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble. The view from my room was worth the small extra charge. I would stay again.
Disliked: Nothing to report.

Good experience in Great Malvern
Liked: Perfect location, tasty breakfast included. Strongly recommended bars: Weavers of Malvern (back garden) & The Nags Head (14 mins walk). Rhubarb Home (three floors) worths a visit, too.
Disliked: Called the property before making the booking to check that a room with bath tub was available. I made the reservation through Booking and I sent a message requesting that room. I got an answer back confirming it and stating the room number. When doing the check in, room assigned had no bath tub and was a different number. After double checking in reception, they were apologetic, but room with bath tub was already taken by someone else. I found it disappointing and worth to mention after how much money I paid for each night. Reception emphasised on the big windows in the room, but it was too warm in the room to keep them open anyway.

Overnight stay while visiting a...
Liked: Very nice hotel with a lovely view out of our window. Friendly staff & good breakfast. We thought a superior room would have a large bed, but I should have read it correctly. Despite only a 4’6 bed it was very comfortable. The room was a good size as was the en suite. Thank you.
