Hotel looks lovely but is...

Liked: The Italian owner and his wife are very friendly. The hotel looks lovely and the river running past is delightful. The sound of frogs fills the air, the small managerie is nice with pigmy goats, horses, swans and geese walking around the field. early in the morning I saw a coypu walking along the river bank. The restaurant outside on the veranda was lovely and the food very good.
Disliked: The rooms are in desperate need of an overhaul. You could easily throw half a million at this place and it would only scratch the surface of what needs to be done. My room #7 was very gloomy and the bathroom had so little light I could not see to shave. I asked for the mirror light to be fixed but nothing happened. The day was roasting hot, we'd been on the road since early that morning. On arrival mid afternoonwe were all gasping for a drink. We were told the restaurant opened at 7pm and would be served on the outside veranda. We could not get a drink before. There are no facilities in any rooms for making a drink. At dinner we arrived 6:30 thinking we could have pre dinner drinks but not so. The gate was duly unchained dead on 7pm letting those waiting for dinner access to the veranda. My party ordered 3 Coca Cola's and were served flat soda with Cola syrup. We asked for them to be changed for proper Cokes. No doubt trying to charge top prices for a cheaper alternative :o(The hotel is one of two parts the rooms are very dated and dark, yet the food in the restaurant is excellent. I would say the owner has sub let the kitchen to another party who runs the restaurant.

Memorable for the wrong reason

Liked: We had dinner at the property but none of the 9 of us enjoyed it. The chicken was tough and it was supposed to be breast but 4 of us got the leg and when I said it was on the menu as breast we were told it WAS breast. I never saw a chicken breast with a leg on it and nothing else. Also the omelette was like thick mushroom soup.

Great place to relax after...

Liked: Tranquil location within easy reach of town centre. Warm welcome by the host. Very relaxed atmosphere. Restaurant staff very professional and attentive. Delicious sorbets dessert

Magnifique!!

Liked: We loved the setting of the château. It was very peaceful and relaxing.The room was functional and very good value for price. With a little fixer- upper it would be very good.We ate in the beautiful restaurant. Very clean and well lit with very crisp and white tablecloths and napkins.The meal was ABSOLUTELY delicious. The best truffle risotto ever, The famous Bresse chicken to perfection and a dessert of tulle with mascarpone cream and amaretti cherries was to die for!! I’m not surprised it was full with residents and non- residents- even in a Wednesday!!Breakfast was standard but I was still full from the night before so it was just right for me.
Disliked: Just a little more attention to the decor.- but good value.
