We only stayed a couple...

Liked: Staff were helpful & pleasant.Food was good quality.
Disliked: No brown bread available at breakfast.Although we had been upgraded to a lovely room the toilet didn't flush & as there was no handyman on site we had to move rooms.

Amazing all round. Great stay...

Lovely romantic get away, lovely...

Liked: Room was smart, clean, well decorated and very comfortable. Our evening meal was very enjoyable and the menu was very appetising and provided well for dietary requirements (celiac). We had breakfast brought up to us, and this was not only delicious, but timely (asked for it at 08:00 and it arrived at 08:00 on the dot). The building and the grounds were very smart, elegant and comfortable.
Disliked: Hot tub out of service, so we didn't use the spa facilities on this visit, probably would have done so if we were staying for longer. Room got rather hot, even with window open and fan provided on.

Liked: Location is exactly what we were looking for, historic property with lots of character, well preserved and well maintained. SPA area especially. Very nice and spacious room with a garden. It looks like almost all rooms in the hotel have either a patio or a garden with a very nice peaceful view. Very nicely decorated bathroom. (However see-through doors are not my cup of tea). Interior in the hotel is wonderful, there is a piano in the bar, amazing conservatory. Territory is well organized and well made to a quality. Also the personal in the hotel was amazing. Especially ladies in the restaurant and in the treatment area. Also, there are many attractions around the area for each type of rest, active, creative, cultural, spa-only lazy self care- you can find it all.
Disliked: Not once were our beddings changed. They would just clean the room, replace the towels and not even take our litter from the bin. Disappointing, however I decided not to make a big deal of it as we were trying so hard to build up the mood for this trip. Food was “your English average” I’d say. As the hotel positions itself as an upmarket for what they change, you’d expect them to have somewhat elevated, well cooked cuisine. Not the case, unfortunately. Breakfast was good 1 out of 3 times, so statistically I’d say it represents. I liked the spa area for what I needed for this trip indeed, however it all depends on the guests who are staying in the hotel with you. Some guests may not be fully aware of the etiquette in the public space with shared facilities. So you’d have to find time to enjoy the spa without a feeling of being sardines packed in a tin. I recommend waiting until 7.30-8.00 pm, you might have it all to yourself.
