Pleasant beach hotel

Liked: Great views of beach, including plush outdoor seating where you can roast s’mores and order from restaurant directly. Has nightly free wine pour in lobby. Appetizers are good in lobby area. Rooms facing beach have floor to ceiling windows with good views of sunset. Dog friendly but very expensive dog fees. Bike rentals available.
Disliked: Internet in upstairs rooms horrible when hotel is crowded; have to go to lobby for good connection. Very expensive pet feed

Nice location, shame the doors...

Liked: Location was just about ok - it was 4km from Monterey
Disliked: Overcharging.When I booked using booking.com I ensured all charges were covered, The desk staff tried to charge me again for local taxes and service fees.There was a hidden $50 usd fee for parking - more than downtime San Francisco They also messed the bill. It took 2-3 goes to get the bill correct at checkout, they billed my Card on File instead of the virtual card from booking.com. I have multiple physical receipts as proof. Checking out was a disaster.As I was checking out, someone else was checking in and they too seemed to be being double charged for services.

Lovely beach venue, close to...

Liked: This is our 3rd time staying here, but the first time since it changed ownership. It still met our expectations. The food is excellent. The views from the patio are superb. Staff was friendly and helpful, especially the hosts and waiters at the restaurant. I left a sweater in the booth, and they had it for me at the front desk, safe and sound!
Disliked: We had a garden room and loved it. Our cousins had an ocean view, which was lovely, but they had not been informed that there would be an event (wedding reception) that was going to close off the patio for an entire afternoon. It would have been nice to have been informed about that at check-in, or before.

Good

Liked: Stunning views of the sun setting over the ocean. Outdoor area with fire pits, large lobby/bar with expansive views.
Disliked: The hotel itself is a bit tired, and on one side faces a busy highway. If you can get an ocean facing room it's probably worth the extra.

Liked: The location is exceptional directly at the beach
Disliked: Since the hotel is build in motel style, the corridors are in front of the rooms.Although booked a room with breakfast, the hotel has limited to a small continental breakfast, not full.

Disappointing and overpriced.

Liked: Close to sea
Disliked: Cold rooms, draughty, no privacy as room directly onto communal walkway, bathroom tiny, no robes and slippers, excessive parking charges on private facilities. No room service only high end dining or nibbles.
