Liked: The staff were very friendly and more then happy to accommodate. Unfortunately our first room didn?t have a window that would stay open due to this we had issues with airflow and allergies did flare up. However the gentleman at the front desk brought us up a fan for the night and then arranged for a room change the next day to solve this problem. Very smooth process.
Disliked: As 2 female travellers not the safest location. We caught Uber?s to overcome this. But the property is secure and I didn?t feel at risk once in the building.

Fine for a night or...

Liked: Staff were very helpful.Free breakfast was fine.Location with regard to public transport/Wharf was good... We actually took a long walk to and from the wharf (as the lines for the tram were so long) and it was great (bit of a hike over the hills though).Price was affordable compared to hotels in San Francisco, so it's fine if you are just looking for a bed for the night.
Disliked: As others have alluded to, this is definitely a hostel. The surrounding streets are home to the homeless and this made us feel reasonably uncomfortable at times. The bathroom doors were difficult/impossible to close/lock, and bathrooms weren't spotless but typical of a hostel between shared guests.Fan and aircon in room did not work so it became tropical very fast in our room, with no opening windows.

Consider if you can compromise...

Liked: Location near Town and convinient access to public transport.
Disliked: The bed is not clean and smell, floor is bad, no aircon and room is small. Toilet is not enough and shower room has not soap and place for hanging clothes.

You cant beat the price,...

Disliked: This hotel is in a not so great area of town with many homeless people. Its only a few minutes to walk to a very safe and nice street but would not recommend walking after dark in the neighborhood AT ALL. No air conditioning but thats majority of places in SF. Get a room WITHOUT windows because the street is very noisy making it hard to sleep. The free breakfast is hardly anything so dont plan on that being your morning meal. Otherwise it was a great stay - you truly cant beat the price.

Cheaper option in this expensive...

Liked: Fruits for breakfast. Oats for good start. Very close to Union sq.
Disliked: Showers / wc are shared between many rooms. You have to hunt for one on popular times. Hotel is outdated and smelly, window broken, bed squeeky.

Close location to the city...

Liked: Staff is very kind and helpful.
Disliked: The hotel is in an area full of homeless people who live, eat and s##t on the street. Sometimes throw things at people passing by. It's difficult to find a safe way from BART to the hotel. I used the Mission street rather than the Market street to get to the 5th or 7th street. No bathrooms in the rooms. A baby 3 rooms down kept crying from 4pm every morning. This should be an 'Adult Only' hotel.
