Overall great experience. Very charming hotel with very friendly staff. It's older so there are subtle details needing some aesthetic updating. However it did not take away from a wonderful experience.

Liked: Quite charming.
Disliked: No hypo-allergenic sheets and the sheets on the bed were cheap; low thread count sheets; there was a musty smell of powder in our room.

Okay , not as plush...

Liked: Very pretty; clean; friendly, helpful staff; everything in working order.
Disliked: The bathroom design (rm 1106). Toilet was placed too high on the wall, I could swing my feet and I am 5’6”! The tub was scary to approach! No hand rails, hard to figure out the faucet and shower tools. Overall, rather small. Staff were able to move us to rm 330 for the second night on a very busy weekend. Booking.com listing did not mention that “included breakfast” was so restricted. (2 eggs, choice of meat, etc. Husband doesn’t like eggs - too bad. )

Overall fine, but wish the...

Liked: Good location
Disliked: The bathroom was not very good. The shower leaked and had water all over the bathroom floor and leaked out to the carpet outside the door. Also the lighting was not the best.

Practical place to stay in...

Liked: The hotel has a grand foyer, lots of original historic touches and is very walkable to downtown. The room was on the small side but functional with a work desk and good size side tables and wardrobe space. The ensuite was clean with good shower pressure and daily housekeeping did a great job. We had drinks and a snack at the Martini Bar on site - the staff were very pleasant.
Disliked: As it was our first trip to Chicago I would have appreciated staff or a concierge with local (inside) knowledge (eg best rooftop bars to visit) but staff would refer us to the doorman, who whipped out his phone to google the answer. Well we could do that! (We chose to go to LH22 at the top of London House for cocktails and dinner which I'd highly recommend as it was open air, not too large and had great views.)
