Nothing in the world like...

Liked: I feel that this iconic hotel is a must-stay at least once in your life for everyone who visits LA. It is a step back into old LA, and perfectly situated for visiting everything in downtown, with easy metro to everywhere else. I cannot say enough about how jaw- dropping the ambience and decor, and the staff flawless.
Disliked: The room was giving more dilapidated grandeur than lap of luxury, but we slept like babies both nights, and wish we could have stayed longer. The carpet in our room looked like it could use a good cleaning. Downtown is a bit post-apocalyptic, but still well worth staying in for its sites and historical significance, and the inside of the hotel felt very safe.

A traditional hotel probably past...

Liked: Traditional ; huge suite
Disliked: The bathroom fixtures are outdated and the finish chipped and fading . No room service. The immediate street environment feels unsafe and dingy . Better security needed and room keys should be floor specific to stop potential criminals from accessing every floor
