Areas for Improvement

If you can find another hotel to stay at, take it. This one is not the best.

Liked: Not much; was thankful that it wasn't dirty.
Disliked: Everything; toilet didn't refill to flush; had to keep tank lid on floor so we could manually do it. Shower head was not stable; kept sliding down to the bottom of the bar. We were told there was no maintenance man onsite. I have stayed at Microtel's so many times and enjoyed them. This particular one was awful.

Worth the money + clean...

Liked: Well worth the price, hotel was small but enough for 1-2 people. Bathroom was clean and had enough basic toiletries. Bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean as well.
Disliked: Initially when I first checked in, the staff was very friendly and kind. They gave me a key card to check into my room, but as I approached the room - it felt like I could hear a TV on in the room (?). I used the key card to unlock the door and sure enough, there was someone's luggage in the floor and I could see someone sleeping in the bed. I quickly closed the door and went back to the counter to tell them that someone as in the room they gave me. The staff seemed flustered at first and apologized right after. Ironically this has happened to me once before in my travels (at a different hotel) so I wasn't too surprised, but things like that make me feel a little less comfortable to stay long-term. Needless to say I set all the locks on the door and propped up my luggage and a chair against it in case someone else got my room by mistake. I understand these things happen, but it can be a serious issue.

After checking in everything was...

Disliked: The lady at the front desk said she didn’t have a room because they were sold out. We had already checked in online. She could read my id or the computer screen. She was squinting so much I couldn’t even see her eyes. Her eye lashes were so long she couldn’t even read. Then she complained about her hard day. We had just driven 14 hours. I told her I wasn’t having an especially great day either.

Last stay at this hotel....

Disliked: Walls are thin as paper. You can hear everything. The rooms are worn and in terrible shape. I stayed 3 times in different rooms. This time was most likely my last time. I had to redo the keys at least 6 times because the have an old system where the key gets demagnetized.

Bad

Liked: Nothing.
Disliked: We booked a three-night stay at the Microtel Inn by Wyndham in Greensboro, NC. After we arrived and paid for the three nights, we opened the door to our room and it was totally TRASHED. Horrific. I wish we had taken a photo of the room. We immediately went to the front desk and were offered another room in a different part of the inn. At that point we did not feel SAFE and asked for a refund. We were told we would have to contact Booking.com. We contacted Booking.com and were told it was up to Microtel. The next morning we returned (staying elsewhere) and met with the manager. I explained why we wanted a refund. She said it would take her 15-30 days to do her research and she would contact me. At that point I offered to pay for the first night as a compromise. We have not heard from her.
