The Spotlight on The Michelangelo Hotel

Classic Elegance in the Heart of Midtown Manhattan

Modern luxury meets old-world charm at The Michelangelo Hotel, a refined retreat just 1056 feet from the electric energy of Times Square. With its marble bathrooms, plush soaking tubs, and timeless design, this Midtown gem offers a tranquil escape amid New York City’s most iconic music and entertainment venues. Whether you're heading to a show at Radio City, exploring the Museum of Modern Art, or catching a concert at a nearby arena, you're right in the center of it all.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything—and The Michelangelo delivers with a prime Midtown address just steps from major music venues like Radio City Music Hall and within walking distance to subway lines for easy late-night returns. The 24/7 front desk makes late check-ins a breeze, while the slow-close marble bathrooms and deep soaking tubs offer the perfect post-concert wind-down. Despite being near the buzz of Times Square, rooms are surprisingly peaceful—ideal for recharging after a high-energy night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to stay close to the action
  • Solo travelers attending a once-in-a-lifetime show
  • Couples turning a concert into a romantic weekend
  • Fans who want a serene space after a loud night
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want some luxury

Food and Drink Options

While The Michelangelo doesn’t offer full-scale dining, the on-site Lounge serves wine and spirits in a sleek, modern setting—perfect for a pre-show toast or nightcap. Plus, thanks to its Midtown location, there are dozens of 24/7 delis, diners, and restaurants just steps away. Grab breakfast after a late night or indulge in classic NYC eats at all hours.

Nightlife Options

You're just blocks away from some of the city’s most iconic nightlife spots—from trendy rooftop bars to cozy jazz lounges and buzzing late-night eateries. While the hotel itself leans more refined than rowdy, the nearby scene more than makes up for it, offering everything from live music venues to stylish cocktail bars.

What People Say

Guests rave about the spacious rooms (rare for NYC!), the elegant bathrooms with luxurious soaking tubs, and the location that puts you within walking distance of top attractions and venues. Many mention the helpful staff and the feeling of calm and quiet despite being so close to Times Square. It's often praised as a hidden gem for travelers who want comfort without sacrificing location.

Areas for Improvement

Some visitors note that the decor feels a bit traditional if you’re more into ultra-modern vibes. There’s no full-service restaurant on-site, and while the Lounge is lovely, late-night food options require a short walk. WiFi is complimentary, but a few guests found the signal spotty in certain rooms.

The Bottom Line

If you're catching a concert in Midtown Manhattan, The Michelangelo Hotel offers an elegant, quiet, and ultra-convenient home base just steps from the city's biggest stages.

Good location, spacious rooms, friendly...

Liked: • Amaaaazing location close to Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller center and many more• Clean & spacious rooms and very friendly and helpful staff. • Luckily we didn’t suffer from any noise from the busy street • Plus the hotel always smelled amazing :)
Disliked: I’m We made our reservation about 6 months prior to our arrival. The photos of the room we booked showed a nice window view, however our assigned room was dark, located on the hotel’s lowest floor, and the window faced a neglected inner courtyard. We couldn’t even tell what the weather was like outside. We didn’t want to make a fuss about it as the room was spacious, but it would be nice to be offered a nicer room considering how much in advance we had booked (for 10 nights) and it was our very 1st time in NYC.Overall, the hotel could use a refresh, as some areas are showing signs of wear. Certain carpets are noticeably worn, and the furnishings feel outdated. Our bathrobes were frayed, and the toilet didn’t flush properly. Sound insulation between rooms is quite poor — we could clearly hear plumbing noises whenever someone used the shower, as well as doors closing throughout the floor.

B+ Everyone was extremely gracious,...

Liked: Spacious, luxurious, well designed, a lot of gracious staff.
Disliked: Had to ask twice to have luggage brought to room after it failed to appear after 1/2 hour, and I had to dress for an event ASAP. Second request still took 15 minutes when I needed it right away. No coffee set up included in the executive suite. Had to request twice, with two hours of waiting in between. Also: Parts of suite not cleaned well. Powder room had soap spots on faucet and mirrors, and no soap. Mini bar did not have nearly the array of snacks listed. I felt at checkout that I needed to go over this with the front desk so that I was not charged for “missing” items which were not there to begin with! And I feel as though I swill still need to confirm! - I would have enjoyed having several of the items missing from the minibar choice. Snickers and MnM’s are not very high end and don’t go well with Piper Champagne. - A couple of bottled waters should have been provided, gratis. These things are routine in lesser hotels. Why someone on high would think that it is appropriate to cut corners in such a luxe as well as expensive hotel is beyond me.

Convenient, great staff.

Liked: Staff!!! And proximity to George Clooney’s play:)
Disliked: It was really dated. Not much changed since I was here over 20 years ago. The lamps were unstable, spots on the crush velvet furniture…WAY TOO MUCH Broadway lights flashing in all night even with blinds and curtains closed.
