Metterra Hotel on Whyte

Superb

Liked: Great location near restaurants and bars in old Strathcona. Really good breakfast with lots of choices and great coffee. Charming hotel and nicely decorated. Nice to open windows and have a breeze.
Disliked: The noise from the different rooftop ventilation systems when you open the window. Probably not an issue above the 5th floor.

Disliked: That parking was 2 blocks away

Liked: I loved the location. It was close to everything. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable.
Disliked: Nothing really. Whyte Ave is noisy at night, the hotel did provide ear plugs. They can’t control the outside noise but offered a way to combat it.

It met our basic requirements.

Liked: Location, albeit a little noisy Staff were helpful and polite
Disliked: Common areas were not kept clean - eg lift / entrance area etcNone of the safes in the rooms workedWe had an issue in the washroom in the first room allocated and we were moved into another room in the same price range where everything functioned a lot better; got the impression that there are grades of rooms within any one given price range!!!!!

Very enjoyable.

Liked: The complimentary breakfast had many choices and all were fresh and hot. Coffee and juice refills were offered many times by staff walking around the breakfast area. The location is very convenient for us as we were going to the Cook Count Saloon which was only a couple of blocks away. The valet parking was wonderful and priced fairly. The delivery of the car on morning checkout was prompt.
Disliked: On the weekends there is a bit of traffic noise issue on Whyte Ave., but earplugs are placed in the room. We ask for a room in the back of the hotel to lessen this. this request has always been fulfilled.
