Unhelpful staff who will tip...
Liked: The location was convenient for central station and the Capitol Theatre.
Disliked: Grubby, cramped and tired looking rooms. The staff are disinterested and unhelpful. I parked at World Square car park as I was told this would be offered at a preferential rate. When I checked out I was given a QR code to scan at the boom gate for 24hour parking ($40 cost). I explained that I was going to go over 24 hours by an hour or two and asked if I could pay at World Square parking machine using the QR code and pay the extra 2 hours. The staff member told me I’d need a different QR code giving me a 48 hour one and then promptly charged me $80! When I arrived at the car park I discovered that the casual parking rate for $24 hours is $22 at the weekend (I was there from Saturday to Sunday). So had I just parked casually at World Square my 48 hours would’ve cost $44, Metro Marlow Hotel’s preferential rate cost me $80 for 26 hours! When I contacted the hotel they just insisted that this was the rate and with no management on site because it was the weekend, there was nothing they could do. After several conversations with staff, who I can only assume get a bonus for selling over priced parking, they agreed to give me a refund if I returned the QR code. I had to make an additional journey back to the hotel to return the QR code so that I could get a refund and the saved $36 by paying the casual parking rate g rate at World Square.
