On the edge of Lake Windermere in the Lake District National Park Merewood Country House Hotel was built in 1812 and retains many original features. Liked: Great service and great food. Lovely bright dining room with fantastic views for a served breakfast.
Disliked: Slight confusion when trying to find location - make sure Google is taking you to Merewood Country House and not Merewood Country House Hotel Apartments.

Disliked: Poor noise insulation from other rooms. Can be disturbing.

A wonderful stay overall.

Liked: Beautiful old country manor, well maintained in a spectacular country setting. Very quiet and peaceful location but easy access to Windermere and main roads in the area. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Disliked: The room we had was clean and comfortable but could use some updating. Note that if you have heavy bags, there is no lift and you will need to haul them up the stairs.The main restaurant is lovely, we did not use the fine dining restaurant. Menu a bit lacking in vegetables.

Disliked: The level of high Cuisine was not as High as I would expect. We had to wait a very long time at the reception and bar before someone showed up. But besides that not much :)
