Mercure York Fairfield Manor Hotel

Nice hotel, great location, friendly...

Liked: We were greeted by Emily on the reception desk who was very friendly and knowledgeable, the hotel was clean as were the rooms however, there is no air conditioning in the rooms but we were supplied with a fan and were also able to open the window slightly. We had pizza from the bar which was tasty and value for money. One down side is the bar staff seem to congregate and chat at the rear of the bar and on more than one occasion I was kept waiting for at least 5 minutes for someone to serve me. There is plenty of free car parking available which includes disabled spaces close to the entrance. There is a bus stop directly outside the hotel which goes straight to York or around the houses depending on what service you use but either way is very cheap. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you plan on visiting York or the surrounding area.
Disliked: No air conditioning in the rooms, bar staff have a tendency to loiter at the back of the bar during quiet times but are very friendly when they eventually serve you.

Liked: Very friendly attentive staff. Beautiful property with very comfortable room. Buffet breakfast was excellent. A short drive to York city centre, and all attractions.

Disliked: Rooms could have used a little updating. Particularly the furniture. The bathroom was very good though and a nice shower.
