We had a 2 night stay - my husband booked the Friday night and I the Saturday night. The receptionist said it would be OK to keep the same room for both nights - however, when returning to our room on Saturday afternoon the key wouldn't work, so we had to get it sorted out with reception. Seems there is no communication between staff. Apart from that, a very enjoyable stay.
Liked: Comfortable bed!
Disliked: Breakfast - no one to greet you and explain how the system worked.

A little disappointing
Liked: Ernest in the restaurant was amazing. A true asset. Thank you Ernest
Disliked: As above - facilities were not great and TV not working was a real issue.

rooms great bar and food...
Liked: really good location and parking. clean and comfortable.
Disliked: Bar service was pretty slow and often bar unattended. Outdoor seating space pretty unpleasant- either sitting in car park of miles from the bar through an inaccessible route.

Made very special by outstanding...
Liked: Staff were outstanding. Especially Toni on reception. Breakfast was very good. Bottled water provided with daily clean. Plenty of teabags and milk.
Disliked: Pool opening times. Wanted to swim in the morning. No air conditioning. Sink very slow to drain but rectified after told staff. Grouting round bath grubby. Cracked bathroom tile and missing floor grouting.

Overall good although with some...
Liked: Good quality room, comfortable bed, shower worked well. Plenty of parking. Staff were mostly very friendly and helpful. Ernest in particular in the restaurant (and Tim?) were exceptional. Blonde girl on reception (mass of wavy hair - no idea of her name) was also good.
Disliked: The spa/pool were only available for very limited times in the day because the hotel couldn't find a lifeguard to work more hours apparently. Several staff, while friendly, appeared clueless and inadequately trained, especially some (not all) on reception. Quality of the bar staff in particular was mixed. Outdoor seating was limited to an area at the front of the hotel by the car park - hardly the best and used by smokers. The hotel is almost opposite a decent garden centre but the only way to walk to it is along the driveway - no pavement provided although the road outside has a pavement. Food quality was mixed - breakfast seemed consistently overcooked and dry for some of the ingredients. When a wedding is on, the wedding guests take over the place and other hotel guests have no quiet space.

need more staff on reception...
Liked: comfortable & clean. Liam in the restaurant made the stay for us, he was very polite, kept us informed on how our meal was being prepared
Disliked: the Reception. when we arrived there was only 1 person on reception and 4 people in the queue in front of us, yet it took 50 minutes to check in. this put a damper on our expectations from the start
