Enjoyable
Liked: The welcome was wonderful and Philip was so approachable and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent.
Disliked: There were no tissues in the bedroom or the bathroom. The dispenser for the sanitary products bags was empty.

Lovely hotel but didn't appreciate...
Liked: Great hotel in good location with very supportive staff. We stayed for one night July having booked two nights in April. But had to stay in a very inferior hotel the first night. NOT impressed
Disliked: I had a booking for two night which was non-refundable on my part. Chose the hotel because it was close to Garsington Opera. It only takes a couple of hours to drive from home but booked an extra night so that we could relax and leave the hotel at around 3.15 pm on the second day. However, on the way to the hotel we stopped at Marlow. During lunch we were telephoned to say that we could stay at the Mercure Hotel that night and we were asked to stay in a hotel in Thame. This was a really shoddy hotel (6.6 on Booking.com compared with 7.9 for the Mercure). Really run down. Basin sink would not hold water and on this very hot night there was no plug in the bath which was up two steps (for two people in their late seventies). It was Friday night and we were the only people dining in the hotel at 7.30. The only good thing was that when I rang the Mercure Thame staff on the Saturday morning, they let us book in early so that we could change for the opera aand leave on time.

Handy for walking The Ridgeway...
Liked: The ground floor rooms opening onto the courtyard garden and wood floors were great for staying with a dog. Dinner and breakfast are served in the bar if you are staying with a dog, which was relaxed and friendly.. The food was lovely.
Disliked: The location isn't overly picturesque and there is some local road noise, but not much at all from the M40. It would also be helpful to not have the breakfast buffet in the restaurant where dogs can't go, when you're on your own with a dog you have to ask staff to get food from the buffet for you, although the staff were very helpful doing this.

Great hotel for a stopover.
Liked: Large comfortable room. Staff very helpful and polite.Good access from the M40 & M25, so great stopping point on a long journey. We had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent and I would definitely recommend any guests to stay for dinner.
Disliked: The bed springs were uncomfortable, so the bed would ideally need a new mattress. The reviews I read said it was a good breakfast, but I found breakfast disappointing. We arrived around 9:15am, (breakfast finish was 10am) and there wasn’t much left, -: very little fruit, no brown bread for toast ( only large crusts) I asked for it to be refilled, but it wasn’t. The limited hot food was not hot, I was unable to eat it and I am not a picky eater. I was disappointed because dinner the night before was excellent, next time I think we need to get to breakfast at or before 8am.
