Historic Charm Meets Concert Convenience in Sheffield

Nestled in 12 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, Mercure Sheffield Kenwood Hall & Spa blends classic Victorian elegance with modern 4-star comfort. Just one mile from Sheffield city center, this peaceful retreat offers a relaxing contrast to the city's buzzing music scene — all while keeping you close to major concert venues and nightlife.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just a short drive or quick taxi ride from Sheffield’s top live music spots, including the city arena and other iconic venues. After a high-energy show, retreat to a serene setting that’s quiet enough for a real night’s sleep. With a generous 12:00 PM check-out and plenty of space to unwind, it’s ideal for those late-night returns. Plus, free on-site parking makes it an easy choice for those driving in for the gig.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a relaxing base between shows
- Solo travelers seeing their favorite artist and needing a quiet recovery spot
- Couples planning a music-filled weekend escape
- Fans seeking a peaceful post-concert environment
- Budget-conscious music lovers who want luxury without the downtown noise

Food and Drink Options

While the hotel doesn’t offer 24/7 room service, there is an on-site restaurant and bar serving hearty meals and drinks perfect for post-concert cravings. Sheffield’s city center — packed with late-night dining options — is just a short ride away. Breakfast is available in the morning, ideal for those recovering from a night out.

Nightlife Options

Although the hotel itself is a calm retreat, you’re close to Sheffield’s vibrant nightlife. Popular bars, clubs, and lounges are just minutes away by taxi, making it easy to keep the night going. Prefer something more low-key? The hotel’s bar offers a refined space to unwind with a drink and good company.

What People Say

Guests regularly praise the peaceful setting, classic charm, and friendly staff. The spa facilities are a highlight, especially after a night on your feet at a show. Many reviews call out the ample free parking and the beautiful gardens as unexpected perks for a city stay.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the décor feels a bit dated in places — think more classic country house than modern boutique. Also, while it’s not far from the action, you’ll likely need a taxi or ride-share to reach most venues or late-night spots.

The Bottom Line

A peaceful, well-equipped hotel with spa perks and easy access to Sheffield’s live music scene — perfect for concert-goers who want to recover in style.

Outside appearance lovely, once inside...

Liked: Outside appearance and the grounds are lovely.
Disliked: My room had carpet moths in a number of places, the bath was badly stained and the general condition of the room wasn’t great. The breakfast kept running out of items and the staff didn’t seem able to keep up. For the amount I paid, I wouldn’t say it was good value for money.

Not just a guest

Liked: Have stayed numerous times at this hotel. Lisa on reception is one of the most friendly, yet professional, member of staff ever. Nothing is too much trouble for her and she is always on hand to listen. We weren't just a hotel guest, we were treated like family.
Disliked: Nothing springs to mind. The hotel is basic but clean and has everything you need

Very Good - 4.0 out of 5

Great, will stay again!

Liked: We stayed for the first time and had such a lovely experience especially with the receptionist Lisa, who did give me a card for a review because she then would get some bonus at work and I didn’t do it because I lost the card!! My son is 4 and full of beans! I mean, literally rampaged around the facilities like a full whirlwind, playing with the piano in reception and the pool table entertained him for hours and they just, the staff I mean, were incredibly kind and patient especially when I was not!!! Fab and also, bonus that it’s a fav hotel for the snooker, which my partnered loved.
Disliked: Nothing really, I mean it is a little dated in areas but the breakfast was amazing and we had two very large double beds.
