Mercure Rouen Centre Champ de Mars

Liked: Parking and room size were okay. The receptionists (men) staff did their best.
Disliked: I have previously stayed at Mercure hotels in various parts of the world and always had a positive impression. Based on that, I chose to stay at the Mercure in Rouen.First, I discovered that the Mercure now shares a building with the Ibis hotel. Second, while waiting for my husband, I was walking through the lobby when a female staff member asked me what I was doing there. It felt strange, inappropriate, and unpleasant.In the room, all the towels were lying in a puddle under the sink, completely soaked. Taking a shower was difficult, as the water pressure only worked for either cold or hot—nothing in between, and the medium setting barely dripped. A used napkin was placed on top of clean ones, which was quite off-putting.Additionally, drinking from paper cups is not very enjoyable. The hallway, despite the camouflaging pattern of the carpet, clearly showed stains and trash. Finally, the baguettes offered at breakfast could be better used as baseball bats.It's better to pay more for comfort. I made a mistake.

Really nice hotel in a...

Liked: Really nice hotel in a great location, close to the historic city center.The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of options to choose from. In the evening, we enjoyed a glass of wine with a cheese board and dessert - fantastic selection of cheeses! The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.
Disliked: Parking is charged on an hourly basis, which wasn’t an issue for our short stay.However, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re planning to stay for a few nights. That said, the parking area is secure, so it might be worth the extra cost for the added peace of mind.

Lovely staff

Liked: All the members of staff were excellent, friendly and helpfull. It is not far from the centre, easily walkable.Good breakfast too.
Disliked: I was not impressed with their bedding. Duvet did not fit it's cover and it was not pleasant to sleep under, and there was 1 thin pillow. We used the decorative pillows too but they were small squares so it did not really work.

Disliked: Our room. Brown carpet when we walked in, looks old and outdated. Not a fan of carpets in hotel rooms. View was roof top and big white pipes and it was noisy. On main road.. I thought it was more in city centre.
