Liked: The rooms are spacious in a historic building; breakfast is excellent; the staff is friendly and helpful; beds are comfy and the hotel is very centrally located. I had to stay two extra nights and it was fine for the extra amount of time.
Disliked: Stock the refrigerator with coke, wine, beer, snacks.

Liked: The restaurant is excellent and open on Sunday, full of locals
Disliked: We were shocked that we couldn't have a cup of tea or a beer on arrival. Only coffee. We had travelled a long way and had a stressful day. For a 4 star hotel this is not good enough.

Mercure Poitiers

Liked: Location and architecture of the building. Beautiful building with an interesting interior.
Disliked: Our room was tired, stained carpet, paintwork chipped and overall in need of a refit.Noises from corridor and room above at 5am that kept us awake. Was surprised to find there was no real bar area. We asked for a drink and was placed basically in reception on chairs, we left before ordering! After contacting the manager twice we got a response about our complaints... Basically justifying our issues by saying the rooms are due to be redone soon, apparently we stayed in the quiet area of the hotel??? and she didn't understand why we were sat in reception to take a drink. Nothing in the way of an apology or an incentive to stay there again. We've stayed in Mercure hotels a lot over the years and unfortunately this one did not live up to the standards and professionalism we are accustomed to with the Accor group.
