The Spotlight on Mercure Nottingham Sherwood

Comfort Meets Convenience Near Nottingham's Music Scene

Modern and welcoming, the Mercure Nottingham Sherwood is a stylish hotel located just 1 mile from Nottingham city centre. Set on Mansfield Road, it offers easy access to the city's top music venues while providing a relaxed atmosphere perfect for unwinding after a night out. With on-site amenities including a health club, restaurant, and bar, it's a solid base for catching your favourite acts without the downtown hustle.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is key here—you're only a short bus ride or a quick drive from major venues like the Nottingham Royal Concert Hall. Public transportation stops right outside, making late-night travel back to the hotel a breeze. Rooms are modern and come with tea and coffee facilities (a lifesaver post-gig), and you can check in from 15:00 and take your time with a noon check-out. The hotel’s vibe is laid-back and friendly, ideal for winding down after a high-energy show.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends heading to a big gig together
  • Solo travelers chasing that bucket-list performance
  • Couples making a weekend out of it
  • Fans looking for peace and quiet post-show
  • Budget-minded music lovers who want good value without skimping on comfort

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Sherwood Restaurant & Bar serves up a seasonal menu, and there's 24-hour room service for those late-night cravings. The bar offers international wines, beers, and spirits—plus a pool table for post-show hangouts. While the hotel doesn’t serve a full late-night menu, light bites are available, and plenty of eateries are walkable or a short ride away. Breakfast is served the next morning—perfect for recharging after a night of dancing.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is more of a chill zone, you're just minutes from Nottingham's vibrant bar and club scene. Whether you're after a buzzing late-night lounge or a quiet pint with local flavour, you'll find it nearby. The hotel bar is a convenient spot for a nightcap before heading up to bed.

What People Say

Guests frequently praise the hotel's clean, modern rooms, the relaxing indoor pool and steam room, and the friendly, helpful staff. Many appreciate the easy transport connections and the fact that it's close enough to the city action without being noisy. The fitness club and wellness facilities are a big plus for those who like to unwind actively.

Areas for Improvement

Parking is available on-site but comes at a charge of £12 per 24 hours, which some guests found a bit steep. A few reviewers noted that while the rooms are comfortable, certain areas of the hotel could use a refresh. Still, most agree that the value and location outweigh these minor issues.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to Nottingham for a concert, the Mercure Nottingham Sherwood combines comfort, convenience, and great post-show perks—all just a short ride from the city's top venues.

Very Poor Hotel over all

Disliked: Restaurant didn't have half the stuff in we wanted for dinner on night 1. bed was so uncomfortable had this mattress topper thing on it that was zipped up the sides so top and bottom wasn't which meant over the years has just folded into itself and created a lump which wouldn't come out and the mattress was so soft was horrible to sleep in. Room was so hot, so hot that you felt suffocated at times, having sent a message every night about it no response was forth coming, air con didn't work and didn't seem to care.4 day restaurant again didn't have 4 things we wanted for lunch. Spa what a joke pool was about 3 meters in length and jacuzzi wasn't working. over all a very poor hotel. It was so bad that we checked out at 23:30 the night before we was meant to check out just because the room was so hot and bed so uncomfortable. No offer of a partial refund or any compensation. Will not be coming back.

Disappointing

Liked: Convenience to where we needed to be in Nottingham
Disliked: Stayed regularly over the last 6 years. This time the beds were really soft and uncomfortable and the hotel had started charging for parking for residents

Good

Liked: Lady on reception was very helpful, welcoming and polite.
Disliked: We was in room 159 and omg was it noisy, had guests arguing in the corridor at 0140 in the morning, then loud music from the car park at just gone 3am followed by the person above us running a bath at 05:20am, so not the best nights sleep and a long journey home!

never again, very disappointed.

Liked: The hotel is in a good location, it looks nice from outside. Some reception staff were very helpful.
Disliked: the rooms were very small, the TV was on the wall at the bottom of the bed, the space between bed and TV was narrow, you had to be careful you didn’t bang your head or shoulder. There was no storage space, two coat hangers on the rail, one drawer with hairdryer in it, no other drawers or shelves for clothes, we lived out of our suitcases that were on the floor as there was nowhere else to put them. We were told we could use the restaurant, it says wait to be seated, when they finally came over we were told we had to book a table so we went elsewhere. We wanted to book a taxi for our trip to the station, we stood at reception, she was on an internal call to a member of staff, instead of saying I will ring you back I have guests waiting, she carried on with the call ignoring us so we walked off.
